Just letting people know....Jahlil had the same sort of surgery to repair a slightly torn meniscus. He's still on minutes restrictions and misses games. So yeah.....not looking good for Embiid

Someone needs to get on the team for their incompetent medical staff... Realizing he has a tear, and then letting him play on it, and actually making it worse (according to the team announcement), is ground for a law suit at the very least. They have jeopardized his career because of this. ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't really a big shock we all knew he'd be out for the year. If he needs surgery he needs surgery. Keep em in bubble wrap til October and let's get ready to roll next season.

Idiots. I didn't need any sort of imaging to watch that injury and realize he needed to be shut down for a while. Meanwhile they still have him practicing and even playing a game.

For the millionth time, someone needs to be fired.

b-b-but everybody has a tear to some degree! Let's ignore that it's a 7 foot 2 basketball player with a history of lower body injuries.

Well as long as he doesn't have a recurrence of the stress fractures it isn't Armageddon, but it is so disappointing.

It really makes Colangelo look even worse, especially with that radio interview that he did the day before the meniscus story broke. He was indignant in that interview and acting insulted that he was being challenged on whether or not Embiid was ok, and it turns out that the most problematic thing about the knee was the part that they didn't tell us about.

How does he maintain his credibility after that?

I don't even want to watch, or think about the Sixers right now.

I can only hope that we get rewarded with lottery luck to make up for this horrible Simmons and Embiid news in May.

The good thing about this is that the injury IS NOTHING NEW! It's just that his meniscus was probably agitated by, IDK, the whole training staff allowing him to practice on it instead of just having him rest and recover. Secondly, it's only a minor tear, so it really shouldn't be taken so catastrophically. Shutting him down for the season's just the smart thing to do IMO given BC is really bad at concealing tanking intentions.

I'm not super in tune with the Philly media since I don't live around there. How much have reporters pressed him and bashed on him for being a blatant liar and utterly incompetent regarding this situation?

I'm not a 7'2" 275lb man, but I recovered from the worst type of meniscus tear in 3 months and was 100% to play in 4 months so there is NO reason Embiid shouldn't be ready to go by preseason.

I wouldn't be concerned about the meniscus tear if it was any other medical staff. But with ours you tack on 6 months to the projected time frame.

You get the feeling that Colangelo knew about this weeks ago but didn't want to drop all the bad news at the same time. Rather than ripping the band-aid off quickly, he draws it out as long as possible to inflict maximum pain.

I would say that they have been deferential so far for the most part, but they have started to press him, and the day before the meniscus news he seemed to get frustrated that his word was being doubted, and then the news broke, and he had to scramble. Now that this news has broken, the prior decisions, and behavior look even worse.
