Re: Joel Embiid -- The Process is now Live
Good thing we have another great defensive big ready to take over now! Oh wait...
All of Hinkie's work is crumbling before our eyes. We can stay hopeful, but the truth is that management has no idea what they're doing. There was no guarantee with Embiid, and now we're stuck with Okafor if things don't pan out with him.

With this medical staff Embiid might be better off with an amputation.

Given that Adam Silver is probably the one that got on the phone and mandated that Embiid play in the ESPN game against Houston, he better rig the lottery for us in 2018 so we can get Deandre Ayton.

Basically he played the equivalent of a full college basketball season, actually not horrible for a guy who only played 11 college games.

We need the full story on why he played the Houston game. I want to know what happened.

Meniscus is not a big deal. Again as long as he doesn't break his foot or get a stress fracture then I'm not going to get all up in arms over normal wear and tear injury that many players get.

Meniscus really isn't a big deal, but I guarantee you this means minutes restrictions again next year.

Re: Joel Embiid -- The Process is now Live
The assessment of Monday's follow-up MRI of Joel Embiid's left knee appears to reveal that the area affected by the bone bruise has improved significantly, while the previously identified meniscus tear appears more pronounced in this most recent scan.
So basically all the rehab work they've been having him do worsened the injury?

Sam Bowie part 2. I joke, just kidding, but I have no faith at this point.

Man it just seems like yesterday when Embiid was telling Molly we are going to the playoffs and dancing on stage, Noel was crying about being more than an 8 minute a night player, TJ sucked, Ben was working his way back into playing shape and BC was being transparent.
Never a dull moment with this team.

No, him playing the Houston game worsened the injury. But you don't expect them to admit that do you?

Honestly I half expect colangelo to come out and blame it on him dancing at the meek mill concert.

First off, a meniscus tear is not the end of the world. So people should relax a bit on that.
Secondly, THIS is why Embiid was on a minutes restriction and they SHOULD have even been more careful with him. I love JoJo's hustle and fire, but frankly all his jumping into stands and playing with reckless abandon made me nervous.
We are talking about a guy who was coming off of 2 years of injury and not having played competitive basketball.
The good thing about this injury is it preserves the tank for this season, which is vital. With the possibility of getting the Lakers pick and maybe swapping with the Kings, this is the year that the Sixers can really cash in with possibly 2 of the top 4 or 5 picks in this draft.
As long as this injury is not related in any way to his foot, then its something I can live with, given the circumstances.

Re: Joel Embiid -- The Process is now Live
When the injury was first revealed, I heard several doctors speak publicly about meniscus tears and spoke to a doctor personally. Every single one of them said the same thing. Meniscus tears don't heal on their own, and they can get worse. It's a pain tolerance thing, but if you want it to be fully corrected, you'll need surgery. If this was a title run season, Embiid could play through it and manage it, but it isn't.
But the Sixers tried to play off this "acute" meniscus tear like it was some mosquito bite that would eventually go away. Then during all the reports of swelling, they said it had nothing to do with the meniscus tear, it was the bone bruise doing it. Several doctors came out and said bone bruises don't cause swelling, but meniscus tears do.
Turns out all these doctors who spoke out publicly were 100% right, and everything the Sixers tried to sell was 100% wrong. How can this be allowed to stand by Josh Harris?

Because Josh Harris is a slimeball along with the GM he hired.

I'm fine with that. Embiid 28 minutes a game is still a superstar. I'm at the point now where I question his career.
31 games in 3 years.

But why now? Stress fractures and a torn meniscus are completely different and separate injuries - they're not connected. If this was another bone fracture, than okay, his bones can't hold up, but that wasn't the case. He happened to land awkwardly and our medical staff threw him back out there to land awkwardly again, oh, and also again to play in a nationally televised game.
