President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Sort of funny. The same who are worried about us secular folk infringing in their "religious freedom" want to ban Muslims from entering the US.
This sort of goes along with their apparently fake support of family values. Conflicted bunch, apparently.

Yeah, I agree - that is a tough one... I thought the WSP article summed up the SMH best:

That is the good part about Trump being President, it deepens the pool of possible future candidates.

No conflict. Christianity has proven to be compatible with Western Civilization. Islam has not.

Minorities, though. They just need to work harder and stop playing identity politics!
Good stuff.
Trump's policies on immigration are likely to help American blacks and American Hispanics more so than they help American whites. It's the blacks and Hispanics who are more likely to be in direct competition with illegal immigrants for jobs.

Just watch the Chinese colonization of Africa unfold over the next 20 years. It's going to be brutal. The Chinese don't feel the same guilt as the modern day West does.

I'm not opposed to it. I just don't care very much. But I support Trump's refusal to do so solely because it drives the media and the left crazy.

Is it obvious how much I despise Jeff Sessions?

It's difficult to take many recent US "movements" seriously when they're ignorant of global realities, and mostly seem to appear (and be resurrected) to assist political agendas.

I know they may seem like hardly significant when you look the plight of others, but the sins committed against the common man abroad does not absolve any sins being committed against people here at home. I do agree with your notion of "working hard" but I feel like this is going to boil down to: "hey you better work for next to nothing (and be thankful) cause I can take advantage of some 3rd world **** abroad to do the same work for a fraction of the cost".
If there is such a thing as "American Exceptionalism" I don't want part of it to be exploiting the vulnerable abroad in quasi colonial fashions just in the name of profit. It is a naive notion admittingly, cause my ideals aside, there are enough scummy people at the top on both sides of the problem to **** the people caught inbetween.
You are right though, much of it is political. However some movements are still justified even if they are politically charged in nature. I don't know if that makes the cause less "pure" in your mind, but to each their own.

It seems like you are implying the west shouldn't feel as guilty for any past or future exploitation due to what the chinese are going to do.. or is there another thing you are trying to drive at?

Well, I suppose that's a bit closer to what I was driving at. It's not that the exploiters shouldn't feel bad. But I think it's fair to say that history is a never-ending story of the strong exploiting the weak. The Europeans weren't unique in this regard, and one can argue that they were quite restrained by historical standards.
