I think you can build a team that can make the playoffs (pretty comfortably) with Embiid playing 40 games a year. What's important is that he is healthy for the playoffs. Of course, it would have been nice if we had a starting quality backup for the games he misses, but they decided against that for reasons we don't need to rehash.
I think both sides would benefit from a steph curry type contract. Of course tbc, a Steph curry type contract in today's cap numbers would be still be a little below $20MM AAV. No one should think he would literally get the $11MM AAV that curry got.
