Question about Andre?

Post#1 » by davidvolumes » Fri Mar 3, 2017 5:40 am

What do you think of sending Andre to the d league for the rest of the season? Would it light a fire under him? I think its too soon to give up on him based on his potential. But other than an extended trip to the d league I can't think of any other to get through to him.

Max player to the dleague lol, that would really be something.

SVG needs to tell him straight up to switch to underhanded FTs, and as far as his mentality goes there's really no quick fix. It's a question of locker room atmosphere and leadership holding him to a higher standard. So, Reggie has to go.

No....
1. We don't have the depth at center where it's fair to all the other players and staff who want to make the playoffs.
2. He would completly dominate down there making no progress development wise.
3. If we really wanted to make a statement benching him would be the professional way to not play him. D-league is a huge insult for a player of his caliber. He would make a trade demand in 10 mins if this happened and Detroits rep to the rest of the league would be toast. It's not how you treat players.

Maybe Reggie could have used to to ease back like Jennings did after the injury (even though it probably wouldn't have helped becuase I think the knee is gone, not a rust of conditioning thing) but you can't demote a healthy recent allstar to the d league.

If you wanna explore trading him in the off-season then go right ahead but don't torpedo his value and your leverage. This is about the worst possible thing you could do; it virtually guarantees he never plays for Detroit again and let's everybody else know they can lowball us because we *have* to move him.

Dre pretty much is who he is. This is more about character than maturity; the work ethic and passion simply aren't there and that isn't likely to change. You can accept who he is or you can try and move him while he still has decent value. But making him stand in the corner isn't getting you anywhere.

Currently other than rebounding Dre is useless as a paint protector or a skilled post player. A trip to the d league could be an attitude adjustment, wake up call. As things stand now the team performs better without him. The purpose of a d league trip would be to grab his attention; not to compete against inferior players. Just a thought

He's not on a rookie contract anymore, so he can't be sent to the D-League. End of story.

If you're SVG & wanna get his attention don't you take him out ti dinner so they can discuss the future of their franchise?

Sending him to the D League is disrespectful

I believe the rules on vets going to the d league is different from your rookie contract players. Drummond would have to agree to go to the d league and that ain't happening. Also to suggest that he go would adversely effect Drummond mentally. He would not respond with more effort there would be less. He would completely disengage from the team and go into his predictable pouting shell. Drummond needs mature professionals with the cred to push him to stop being soft, immature, and lazy.

Have him spend the summer with Sheed, KG, and McHale working on his skills.
Have him on a fitness program with Ben Wallace.
Have him spend quality time with Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn.

Begin holding Drummond to a higher standard and stop giving him a pass because he can zero effort and still get a double-double.

Do you think him going to the D League will change your opinion of his D?

Is sending him to the D League the best way to teach him to your version of D?

Or could you possibly think of a better way to
