Acy looks good and very impressive so far. But we don't know if he is another Booker who looks really good in the beginning of the season and then not so much as the season went on. You get the see the bad side of the player after a while.

You want to set the bar low then go ahead. I won't. I don't except losing. We need to stop giving A's to Marks for bringing in guys like Lin when other teams are bringing in actual top level talent. We play in the same league as these other teams and it's time to stop looking at ourselves as victims.
Victims lol?
You literally want Marks to force guys to sign here haha.
Who's forcing? If Woj said that the league likes our rebuild and the culture we've developing. It's not out of the realm of possibility to acquire multiple B or C Tier Free Agents. Nobody is saying it's guarantee.

Exactly. It's going on year 2, if Marks really know what he's doing he needs to deliver or everything else is irrelevant.

I'd personally start Acy and Booker and slide LeVert into the SG spot...Best starting unit is Lin/LeVert/Acy/Booker/Lopez....Very good balance of shooting and defense with guys like Booker/Acy who can set picks + rebound.

Yes, let's try this lineup.

The silver linings?
Brook was the 2nd leading rebounder on the Nets, on a night where we didn't lose the rebounding margin by a lopsided amount.
Acy consistently looks like a rotational player - and he played 100% ahead of Hamilton tonight.
KJ got some burn, so did Nicholson after the blowout started. Tbh, neither showed me enough to convincingly start over guys like Harris/Kilpatrick/Foye or Booker/Acy. Depending on what happens with Harris' concussion, KJ may get rotational minutes tomorrow night.

I was thinking the same thing. Would help our rebounding a lot also.
On another topic I don't understand KA playing Whitehead so much. He played him the 3rd most minutes on the team and he shot 3-12. He's shot poorly all year (39%) with a lot of turnovers and fouls. Kid has been given much more than a fair shot to learn and improve. Time to recognize he just doesn't have it and find someone else to develop.

Maybe since he's playing so badly KA thinks he needs more practise
I think Whitehead will shoot better and turn the ball over less if he stops doing the flashy stuff. I feel some of his spin moves are unnecessary and for show only. And don't try going one on three. I know some people say Dinwiddie plays scared but he plays within himself and doesn't turn the ball over.

As a Kings fan who has watched like 20-25 games this year of the Nets I just don't understand playing RHJ at PF, the first time I watched him he struck me as a poor man's (might be as good one day) MKG/Tony Allen that's a good sized SG/SF who can really get after it on defense and scrap for loose rebounds and out jump/out length smaller SG/SF's on the offensive glass while at times being able to snake his way to the rim.
I don't know what the Nets plan is moving forward but to me if your building currently around LeVert/RHJ just get a stretch 4 with those two and play RHJ @ the 3 and let him be your lock down glue guy. Even against stretch 4's he's going to get out-muscled (e.g vs Skal) and aside from the odd slash to the rim due to quickness you pretty much take away all his advantages @ the 4.
Loving Acy I have never seen him play this well, he had good stretches in Sac Town but never at this level, he's really refined his dribble drives and shooting.
LeVert did not have the best game but in the first quarter he made some exceptional passes and just always shows flashes of unreal talent.

I completely agree. Playing RHJ at the 4 sacrifices all of his strengths just so that we can have a marginally better shooter at the 2/3. From a developmental standpoint, it's the absolute worst thing Kenny has done and it precludes him from being considered a "developmental coach" in my mind.
Do people forget how good RHJ was on defense last year? When he came into the game there was a massive difference on the defensive end and the stats reflected it. He just jump started the whole team.
Defending the 4, he is a JAG (just another guy). He's undersized and not particularly strong so his potential is really quite low. Yeah, like any 3 playing out of position, he has quick feet for the position, but his potential is nothing special and he has been well below average defending at the 4 so far.

Couldn't catch the game but I saw Acy went off. I only saw the box score though. Was his performance encouraging or was it just easy shots and free throws? Acy becoming a legit role player would be awesome.

Agree with RHJ..His true potential is still at SG/SF, but he will have to develop a 3ball so to be a starter....At PF, he no longer has the length/height advantage that he would have had against SG/SF....Tonight against Favors, you already knew he stood no chance against these type of PF.
I still don't think Nets FO look at RHJ as their future starting PF..This is just an experiment to see how he cope as a small ball 4 for next year, coming off the bench...Nets would be crazy to open next season with RHJ starting at PF.

Why doesn't KA just run D'Antoni's offense? He should know it well and he has the pg to run it. Seemed to work ok during Linsanity and with Houston this year. Oh well guess I'm just a fan and he's a professional coach.

I think the reason coaches doesn't like D'Antoni system is because it doesn't allow too many players to get involved..Coaches wants to see everyone get involved/touching the ball, passing it around unselfishly..Most coaches would like to be praised for creating a team that has no super-stars where everyone just passes it around...That gives the coach most of the credit instead of the stars who dominates the ball.
D'Antoni system is basically a 2-player system, with the rest standing by as floor-spreader catch-n-shoot.
Also, Nets wants to develop players, so allowing Lin/Lopez to dominate the ball may not do much to help guys like LeVert/RHJ to develop by giving them usage to be on the ball and create.
But I agree that the D'Antoni system would fit this team much better than the current MO offense..The MO offense is best used when you have a bunches of skill-full, high IQ players who can create, handle and pass....It doesn't work well with a bunches of D-leaguers which are being asked to do too much with too many touches.

The game was never in question. They pretty much kept us at an arms distance the entire night. This was a game you would show someone who doesn't think Lopez is a poor defender. They put Lopez in PNR pretty much any time they wanted points and it was a party at the rim. Ifor I taught youth sports I would use video from this game to show how to properly run PNR. George Hill went to the top of my free agent wish list after watching him play today. He was always under control and made the right play every time. His lob passes to the rim were something to see.

Yeah, giving up on a rookie player in March is really the smart, rational thing to do.
Jeremy Lin shot 38% in his first year as a pro. I guess he didn't have it either right?

I'm just being realistic. Bad teams have to build through the draft and development. They don't go out and sign A tier FAs, or even B tiers.
any guys of considerable talent that do take big contracts from bad teams, are just mercenaries that don't care about wins or losses.
I agree. Except there has not been one mention of an A tier FA or B tier.
Our Free Agency is RFAs and solid role guys like Taj Gibson, Tyreke Evans. I don't think it's ridiculous whatsoever to put us in the category for a C tier FAs with B tier talent.

I am afraid pete won't get it. But seriously, it is not like the Nets have anyone else to develop at this point. We don't have Russel or Simmons.

Would a 33 year old Millsap and 31 year old Hill want to join a rebuilding Nets? They'd certainly be great pieces for any team.
