Williams has had like 4 good games, i would not want to be handing out a 10 mill multiyear deal to him.
Id be hoping for something more like 3 years 21mill...same deal as Boban.

We are not giving the contract right now :D There's enough games remaining to evaluate him i think.

Yeah, we have another 20 games to watch him.

I like him a lot because he provides excellent reboundig, that is a sure thing in his skillset. Another thing that I like a lot is that he understands his limitations, he is smart and makes easy plays.

He is long enough to play C (7'2 wingspan) and his strength/weight make him a tough to guy to move out of the paint.

I want him over Len for sure right now, his reboundig and touch around the rim is a perfect combination next to Chriss or Bender.

Dudley is a proven quality role player who can be traded easily.
Williams has had a handful of good games, if he keeps his play up I guess we will have no choice to pay him top $, That is how bad contracts are born though. Dont get me wrong I hope he can continue to play like he has been, but we should be cautious about throwing 10 mill multiyear deals to guys like WIlliams

I think he deserves something like the Boban's contract.
Makes sense for everyone.

Love what I see from Big Sauce but I'm not ready to be talking big money extensions yet.

Same here. Hate to piss on the parade, but he will cool off, especially if/when players/coaches get to know his game, tendencies, etc... Don't forget how many guys have you seen ballin' for 10-15 games and then kinda dissapear. He is all heart and hustle, with a nice touch around the basket, but he is a 6'8" center who can't even dunk, and has limited post moves, and not very good defense other than rebounding. Even that is worth something, just not more than 4-5 mill/year - Kyle O'quinn got a 4/16 contract before the cap rise, so that's about the same, if we get a home town discount. I'm fine with that, but I wouldn't really like it at 8-10mill/yr.

FWIW Plumdog showed just as much if not more promise than Big Sauce yet he dropped off and is now considered overpaid at $12.5m a year.

He'll need to really do work throughout the rest of the season to prove he's worth it

Do you really think Plumlee played better than Alan? Plumlee never had a soft touch like Alan on offense and didn't have rebounding instincts like Alan either. He was just using his athleticsm. Unlike Plumlee, Alan Williams has the basketball IQ and craftiness.

Gaspar's hot take of the day: Big Sauce is better than Jahlil Okafor.

I dont have any stats on this, but just watching him play he has horrible rim protection, he could never be a starter

Sauce is gonna play himself out of our price range  . Not since Alex Len has been drafted has he legit outplayed the other bigs we had on the roster. Chandler, Williams, Plum Dawg, Frye played C. when we drafted Len. He has never outplayed everyone and straight up deserved to be the starter unless someone is hurt or we are tanking .

I dont know how he does that... but he has some interesting numbers:

5.1 BLK%
48.8% defending the rim
23.8 TRB%

105 DRtg with him in the floor (112 as a team)
positive DBPM and RPM in defense

2 steals per100 (same as Bledsoe and Chriss, only Ulis has a higher rate)

I have always been a Williams fan (Not just Terrence!).

Its really cool to see the Suns actually giving him the minutes that i felt he has deserved for a while now. Its not too often that a teams "Fan Favorite" really provides on the court. Usually that term is given to an end of the bench cheerleader type of guy that gets no play on the court and usually doesnt really deserve the court time, but Williams has really shattered that mold in my eyes. With his ties to the city, and just about everything, its awesome to see him unleashed on the league, and really contribute to this team (even though its making us have a lower draft pick in the end).

His rise reminds me of Whiteside. A 2nd round pick, that no one ever really gave a chance, finally got some major minutes due to injury, and really shined. He came out of nowhere and made an impact for his team, and thats exactly what Big Sauce has done for us.

If it came down to it, I'd rather give Williams that Len money that is being talked about. They both have been given their opportunities. One has been almost a complete failure, while the other has been given even less of an opportunity, and yet has ran with it. Williams is doing everything that we have been wishing Len could/would do.
