plain and simple. it's devastating , but he's proven time after time for years now, he's incapable of staying healthy to play pro sports.

i literally posted this in 2014 and got ripped to shreds, and here we are 3 years later and it's actually gotten even worse than what I imagined.

Dude, would you shut the **** up.

In the grand scheme of things, a recurrence of the Navicular or back stress fractures would be MUCH worse.

A meniscus repair is fairly common and most people come back 100% from it.

Overall, it's highly unlikely he is ever a 75+ games per year workhorse. However, a guy like Shaq won 4 titles usually playing around 65 games per year. He always missed some games here and there during the regular season, then was ready for the playoffs.

I think that is still a very possible outcome for Embiid, which would be fine. We just need to build our team to account for that.

"In order to fully heal from his bone bruise, the 76ers medical staff has concluded that the best course of action is for Joel Embiid to retire from professional basketball."

He's really obnoxious and has some strange obsession with being right about it (seems to supersede his 6ers fandom a lot of the time, also wasn't saying **** when Embiid was killing it) but I sadly do not think he is wrong on some issues. (double negative, sue me)

Honestly if he can't come back and be a contributing factor on a 6ers team, if we are able to make a run, it will be depressing that we ever got to see him play. He is such a damn powerful figure, especially on defense. I really think if he is in the game, it needs to be slowed down and tailored around him. Pace and space is great, but when it comes to generational talent, you build off of whatever it is that they do great.

I don't understand how they ever thought it was a decent idea to give the ball to him at the top of the key and pretend like he was James Harden in the first place.

i think we got to lock him up for the max asap. (given asap will be months after he recovers from whatever procedure they might do the next couple of weeks.) 'cause by this time next year chances are LA, NY and any other glamorous locales he might like to live in are going to start serious whispering campaigns leading to welcoming him for the max.

I really don't like the idea of giving him the early extension.

I think the best course of action is to wait until the summer of his restricted free agency.

I think they should extend Embiid ASAP. He is the one player that gives them a legit shot at a title. So they need to focus on best case- which is keeping JoJo happy and in Philly as long as possible.

The way I'd suggest is to offer the opportunity to make a 5 year max (25% of cap) and have the guaranteed money be as much total as he could get as a RFA from another team. To do this, they could offer him a 5 year max where part of year 4 and all of year 5 are tied to games played provisions in year 1-3.

The Sixers can offer bigger yearly raises and a 5th year... which combined is about 35-40M more than other teams over the life of the contract. So tie those games played provisions to 35-40M on the back end. So the SIxers are a bit protected (only committed fully to 3 years), Embiid has no reason to wait for RFA and should be happy knowing he is being taken care of.

Huh? We hold his RFA rights he's not going anywhere. If he is willing to extend for less we have something to discuss. Otherwise I'd rather let him play out his contract and see how healthy he is next year.

I wouldn't extend him now, simply because we don't have to. If he has a healthy season next year then he is a max player for sure, but let's take advantage of the time we have to evaluate if he can be healthy.

Btw, my injury concerns with him only are in regard to his foot. At least his foot is solid so far.

I'm as big a fan as anybody but giving him the max this summer would be down right stupid.

Just my opinion. Not saying anyone is stupid if they don't agree with me.

Damn, Embiid was at The Collegeville Bakery on Sunday and I didn't realize until it was too late. That's right near where I live!
