Official 2016 Off-Season Thread

I've been listening to the realgm free agent podcast. they have everyone we'd want getting what I think of as quarterback's money. I don't think we'll be signing anyone for 25mm but they could fool me. I think what we need now is a 3 and D SG.

Edit: 8point9seconds.com reports we are interested in Willie Reed. From the article, he does look like the typical Bird find although why we didn't sign him to the summer league team is strange. Maybe he'll be a late addition though.

Edit two: OJ Mayo suspended for two years so scratch him of the list.

On the trade board I'm doing a mock 2016-17 regular season with following 2017 mock off-season for all 30 teams. In the regular season, the Pacers (as the fourth seed) just upset the Raptors in the second round only to lose to the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the regular season, Myles Turner was just the Most Improved Player of the Year.

Now, given the success of the playoff run, if D'Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram show some results on their potential and the Lakers offered Ingram, Russell and Julius Randle for Paul George, would the Pacers consider taking a step back, building around the Russell/Randle/Ingram/Turner core and trade Paul George or just continue to build chemistry around a veteran core built around George?

With the warriors/cavs being good for next 3/4 years, Lakers have no interest in trading for PG13.

They will tank the remaining games and try to secure top 3 pick.

Also Lakers are not trading 1 of randle/Ingram/dllo for 1 yr rental let alone all 3 of them.

Pg13's goal is to compete for championship and if we trade all 3 core guys we will be in same place as current Indy. No thanks

1 year rental? The idea is that another superstar would join PG in LA, along with other f/a signings. Pretty much the same approach they have always used, which is to poach other teams assets for championship talent.

I don't think the Lakers are going their traditional route of signing free agents. It hasn't really worked out for them as well in the last few years as it had done in the past. They have a solid young core that's gaining experience and chemistry together in order to more seriously compete in a few years, somewhat similar to the Twolves' situation. Their best bet is to stay the course and improve internally.

This team needs a new attitude and culture mix.

Pacers have a 3 to 4 year window to win with George. They are similar to the Bulls with Butler.

George, Turner, and Robinson are great pieces for a core.
Ellis and Young are terrible fits. Bird has to get rid of their contracts without taking bad fits back.

1) There is a cost effective way forward, Euroleague Allstars. They are ready to win now. They complement the core.

Why would Portland do it though? .. Al Jefferson could probably find a spot?... But Portland would probably just waive Ellis. The last think Portland needs is another scoring guard? I feel like Indiana would have to add a pick to this.
