Hey guys, I try to keep the self-promotion stuff on here to a minimum but Stanley Johnson was kind enough to give me some time this weekend to talk about his season, Grand Rapids, his jump shot and a whole lot more. Give it a read!

Don't be ashamed sir you've been doing some great work.
I was taking a look at some of the lineup stats from February... thanks so much for bringing those out! So good to see the value of SJ defense, TB offense, and Ish stirring up the pot!

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Solid article Duncan!
Articles like these get me amped about the Pistons' future which is good in the face of all the negativity around here.
I can't seem to get enough of hearing about SJ's approach and progress. Your article takes that several levels deeper than the standard post-game interview Q&A.
Thanks for your efforts and please keep posting pointers to any future articles you decide to write about the Pistons!

I didn't like the structure of the interview, as it didn't really break up where his responses were against your questions.
Also, his responses came off like all their programmed boring responses. Not a criticism of you, just didn't make for an interesting read.

No problem, interviews aren't my strong suit anyway.
I actually thought his answers were pretty insightful. Particularly how he described the Grand Rapids trip, how the bench fits and why it's killing everybody. Plus his talk about Aron was interesting. I thought it was a bit more of a look behind the curtain than players usually give.

Nice read. Think it also divulged what SJ got suspended for
The part where he's talking about the 2nd unit, where he includes KCP & Mook...he names everyone but Dre & RJ playing that kind of ball where he can be a playmaker with Ish
Found that interesting considering Dre is his buddy

Pretty cool man. Still have a lot of hope for Stanley. He looks much more comfortable out there than he did the first half of the season. He can still be really good. Hope he's starting at some point.

Re: Stanley Johnson sat down with me to talk about his season
SJ's issue is will he figure out a scoring niche in the league? After a bad start this season, he's figured out he needed to be leaner and more athletic. He is still plenty strong enough to play the versatile wing. SJ's defense and play making/passing is a big plus. I still think he'd benefit from studying Mitch Richmond's approach to offense. SJ is well equipped to play the bully ball offense.
