Young Shortstops

Post#1 » by w3027193 » Sat Sep 19, 2015 12:38 am

I was looking up the scores the other day and checking on how some of the young players were doing around the league. I realized there is a very good crop of shortstops right now. Carlos Correa, Addison Russel, Xander Bogaerts, Fransisco Lindor.

Who is the best player/prospect? Am I missing any other up and comer?

Fun times ahead for mlb.

My vote is Correa. He just looks like the total package. If he is to stay at shortstop, presumably, even more value. I'm not familiar with his defense but he is very talented at the plate and so young.

Carlos Correa probably has the highest upside due to the bat, though he may eventually outgrow the position. Francisco Lindor though, good god can that guy play defense. Correa is a solid defender at short but Lindor is gold glove level. Lindor can also really hit but he doesn't have the power that Correa does.

Russell is already showing major improvements at the plate from 1st half to after all-star break, plus his D lately has been lights out. He is miles ahead of where I thought he would be right now. Javy Baez should be mentioned as well. Lots of good infield depth for the cubbies

I doubt Seager's glove will last at SS more than a year or two.

I like Correa and Addison here.

SS was once the sexy position in the MLB during the A-Rod, Nomar days. Every young kid wanted to play SS.... Then it became a very weak position at some point. Teams were happy if u could just give good defense at a premium position... Now though, i think we are witnessing a resurgense of the SS position.

Diaz of the Cardinals looks like the real deal, especially at the plate. Needs to work on his defense a little however.

Trevor Story doesn't seem to be the same kid we saw last year as a rookie.
