The Knicks would really take on Deng and Moz for only JR and just to move away from Melo???

If we went into full rebuild mode then I would hope so. Randle looks legit to me and I'd like a 4/5 rotation of him, KP, and Willy G. But that's just my opinion...dunno if Phil would, but taking on salary is a good way to acquire another stud talent since we wouldn't be signing any top FA's with cap space any time soon.

I doubt cp3 is leaving the clippers. Wade is done and melo is almost there. There's better chance we might get better production out of Deng by moving him to his natural position as a starting pf and use Mozgov as a back up center.

I cant agree with refusing this proposition. Melo is almost done, but his contract expires after 18/19 season. I like Ingram, but if we keep pick this year (i hope so...) we have to send unprotected pick to Philly next year. So Ingram is definitely not ready (it was obvious for me before season) and probably next year he wont be ready to. Probably 3rd/4th year will be his breakup year. And since them im not against Melo if cost is only Deng+Moz+Randle.

Mozgov and Deng are horrible. And they also (especially Deng) will be even worse. Also we save 10 mln in 17/18, over 25 (Randle with huge extension) in 18/19 and i have no idea how many in 19/20 (around 50?).
After this trade (Randle+Moz+Deng for Melo)
we will have :

Russell, Clarkson, 1st round pick (Fultz in my dream), Brewer, Young (PO), Ingram, Melo, Nance, Black(UNG), Zubac, HOU 1st round pick. And cap space.

Russell/Clarkson
Fultz/Brewer
Ingram
Melo/Nance
Zubac

HOU 1st
25-35 cap space (depends on Young decision and LAL decision about Tarik).
Increase W-L in 17.18, PG and maybe even PG+DMC hunt in 2018 FA.
I would accept this offer without hesitation.

Dr Aki wrote:the price the Lakers should pay AT MOST, should be the same to dump Deng or Mozgov. because that's what the cap space would go towards, signing George for free. paying extra is dead value and simply bidding against oneself. thus, all deals centring around the Lakers and Paul George should include a Deng or Mozgov dump with no long term (post 2018) salary coming back

that means no to Ellis, Thad Young, yes to Al Jeff (he's a 2017/18 expiring if we forgo the 2018/19 team option, though 10 million for Al Jeff is quite a deal in this era)

if Indiana won't accept a Deng or Mozgov dump with Clarkson, Randle, HOU 1st and filler, then we trade the same package for pure cap space (hopefully) and sign George and a second star with that cap space.

it's sh*tty for Indiana, but they shouldn't have let it get to this point, where George has 1 year remaining, holds all the leverage, and is actively tanking his value for other potential suitors by saying he won't sign an extension and that he's going to sign in LA.

anyone trading Russell, Ingram or the top #3 pick for George should be taken out back and shot, if you're going to trade those assets, find a star for trade that has more years left on his contract that we cannot simply sign for free.

like Butler, or ideally... Davis

I'd imagine there would be at least one team that would take a flier on George without a signed extension (see Cousins). After that it's 50 50 whether or not he resigns or leaves.

Let me ask this. Can anyone cite an example of a superstar free agent taking less money to only sign with one team and no one else?
