I'd take the 9ers' next two number one picks and trust that Mcloughan will rebuild the team with good picks... wait. Oh, never mind.

His contract is part of the reason but also, he just seems to have a rapport with Kyle Shanahan (San Fran).

It's all speculation. Reporters float BS constantly. Remember, Tony Romo was going to get Dallas the #2 overall pick a couple of days ago.

But I'll say this, if Kirk actually wants to leave DC for the 49ers, he's a complete dumbass. Yes leave a team where you were successful and played behind a beast of an offensive line to go to a **** terrible team where you'll get lit up. Piss away your shot at a long career as a starter.

Eh I don't know about all that. He's having his first kid and the Bay + Shanahan + Garcon offer some familiarity and even better a lack of dysfunction. What is there in DC? D-Jax is gone and Garcon is gone. All he has on offense is Crowder. Jordan Reed is a single concussion away from deciding to go back to school for his masters in communications. The Skins are hardly the place to bank on for a long career in anything besides a chance to get your own 4 hour talk show slot on the radio.

Don't get me wrong, I don't know how far away the niners are away from being good, its probably a ways, but the skins suck.

We have one of the best offensive lines in the league and a system in which he was successful. A QB should never willingly leave that. If Kirk gets traded, I'd be shocked if he remained successful. It almost never happens.

The only thing you can really grade this offensive line on is run blocking because they have very little pressure to offer strong pass protection with this QB and this scheme. Kirk gets rid of the ball so quickly and the plays are designed for that--so basically you've got to let a guy through right off the snap to get a bad pass pro grade in this offense.

Where we can really judge the line is the run block--and we're trash at it. Can't run the ball for anything. This offensive line is probably just average. Kirk and the scheme makes them look better than they are.

Kyle has already proven his skill as a coordinator. Kirk doesn't have to worry about that.

It was reported that Allen floated this rumor to distract the media from the dysfunction. Ian Rappaport isn't some blogger in the basement. He's a front line reporter and was the one who tweeted the romo / cousins / pick rumor.

By and large offensive lines are good, average, or bad based on the quarterback. 2014 is a great example. Look at the sack percentages for RG3, McCoy, and Cousins. Same line, all of them had radically different sack percentage rates. If the o-line was really one of the best in the league, they'd have a better run game, which they didn't. Wherever Cousins goes, he'll make the o-line look better than they really are because the way he operates an offense.

That's ridiculous. The OL play can be and in fact is evaluated independently of QB play. OLs are graded on the difficulty and successful execution of their assignments. In 2014 the OL was not good, regardless of what was going on at QB. In 2016 it was excellent. The reason for the change wasn't the QB, it was adding Scherff, Moses, and Long, all of whom we became much better players than their predecessors.

If Cousins goes to a team with a trash OL, he's going to get lit up and look like crap. Every QB struggles under those circumstances. Peyton Manning was one of the greatest QBs in the history of the sport and he went from throwing 50 TDs to crap when his OL fell apart and the team changed coaches and changed to a system he couldn't run. Every QB's success depends upon his situation. Kirk would be crazy to willingly leave a proven good situation for any other, much less one as up in the air as San Francisco's.
