80s / 00s Cross-Eras Draft Thread: On To Round 6
Draft Rules:
1. Every player from the 1979-80 season to the 1988-89 season AND 1999-00 season to 2008-09 season will be available to be drafted.
2. The winner of the draft will be determined by way of a 16-team playoff tournament (see playoff rules).
3. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. There will be no trading. However, you can trade your draft pick position with somebody else before the draft begins if you wish to do so.
4. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page before the playoff tournament begins.
5. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABBAB
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If a participant does not make a pick within 2 hours, he can make his pick whenever. A participant who has back to back or consecutive picks will have both full windows to make their picks. A participant who misses 2 consecutive picks may be replaced. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM/email your selection to myself (wallengms@gamil.com) or another participant...I strongly urge this so that the draft can move in a timely manner.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock, which will start their 2 hour period.

I can go with several guys here but give me Bron's 2008/09 MVP season. I've never build around him and wanted to give it a try here.

I will go with Magic Johnson. His relatively low FGA is ultimately what puts him above a couple other awesome guys I was considering.

I'm going to pick a guy who I think is one of the best SF in this draft pool. I will choose Dr. Julius Erving. Please quote LA Bird for me, thanks.

Re: 80s / 00s Cross-Eras Draft Thread (Clock has begun!)
All right I've delayed long enough on this. I've been all over the place but ultimately better go with the "obvious" pick.

Hakeem the Dream. Not sure what season to use, 88-89 is his best available regular season but he had that amazing playoffs run in 86-87 and would be a little cheaper there... Tough call and this is actually a tough pick for me as I've had Dream and I wanted something different but it just seems like a losing move to pick anyone else. This guy is an elite 2-way center even in his earlier years and can go toe to toe with all those scary bigs that have already been picked.

Re: 80s / 00s Cross-Eras Draft Thread (Clock has begun!)
Even though I'm far from his biggest fan it's pretty hard to pass on this guy and the pairing he offers with Dream. Especially since I have a couple guys I think/hope will slip to my 3rd pick that would be perfect with these 2. So give me:

Steve Nash, insanely efficient, perfect guy to hook up Hakeem, has that intangible "makes your offense awesome" factor, I think I can def build the defense and scorers he needs around him to be most effective and with moses just taken he's the only multiple mvp winner left available in this pool, so there's that too I guess.

I was between a few guys here. I am ultimately going to go with one of the greatest offensive seasons of all time. He was absolutely unstoppable, and a good defender as well. I think he will pair quite nicely with Dr. J. I choose Tracy McGrady. Can someone quote next please?
