Oh, another nuggets from Cliff's post game meltdown, he lamented not having Plumlee, who he says would help make us tougher and not such a finesse team. So, yeah, you can pretty much see that trade has Cliff's fingerprints all over it, just like the Marco trade.

Atta boy Cliff, keep heating up that seat. "Not connecting with the team" is a solid go-to justification for coach firing.

This was one of the shots that felt like it was directed at Lamb.

All part of the plan. Make Cliff seem like an idiot that doesn't recognize a true talent so when we try to trade him, every team is lined up ready to deal.

You could say the same for Roberts. He's been in cruise control ever since Sessions went down IMO. Frank looked unwilling to be physical too, letting Mirotic get too much real estate in the paint tonight numerous times. Probably didn't want to re-injure the shoulder or something.

Regardless, he is absolutely correct that it's our defense that is killing us this year in the 4th.

I think he's pissed at both of them. Marco has had more Q4 minutes this season than Lamb, so I think we should definitely interpret his comments as reflecting on Marco too.

I 100% buy his comments about physicality and I still think acquiring someone like Miles was the right move. I wish we had gotten Nurkic, but DEN clearly had a specific guy in mind with their trade.

Think Lamb got the message loud and clear.

Cliff needs to learn to keep stuff in house. I love coaches who keep quiet to media and handle team issues out of public. Lamb scored 26 points efficiently and hustled all night. Yes he made some bad plays on defense, but so did the whole team. Lamb had a play were he turned the ball over and then hustled and stole the ball back, loved that. I'm a big Kemba fan, but he sucked last 2 games when we needed him, how about Cliff blast him. How about Batum's careless turnovers every game late in losses? Marco's defense is horrendous and takes really bad shots, he gets to finish games. A coach should never single out players, it's a bad look. Oh well, this season is just about over, still think they will make a run at the 8th spot, but fall short.

Cliff calls guys out all the time in post-game pressers. It's not just a Lamb thing. Even tonight he talked about how we're a finesse team that loses because we aren't consistently physical or aggressive. That wasn't just a commentary on Lamb.

I know that, I just personally hate it when a coach does it. Its almost a CYA move. No need to publicly call out players ever. This team is what it is, your job as the coach is to make the most of it. This team failed so as a coach you have to take part in the failure. He did not get the most out of the roster. I think Cliff is a good coach, but is very stubborn. That timeout vs the Pelicans at the end of regulation was stupid. Your best player had ball in hand on a break, dumb.

I actually disagree, as long as he is honest and open with his players, which the players have said is how he operates. I think he is more than fair when he talks about what the team as a whole is doing wrong.

You do not have to air everything out in the media. I like my coaches more like Belichek or Pop. I guess we just see it different which is fine.

Popovic has absolutely killed his team postgame before. Especially after barely beating a depleted Mavs team in November

Yeah, Pop was a bad example in hindsight.

I hope that this is him seeing Lamb's wiry body, really wanting to see him improve and becoming a good defensive player, not just having someone who isn't his favorite for whatever reason.

I just wish that he would have called out Marco as specifically as he did for Lamb if he was going to do something like that. Marco is lazier, makes plenty of mental mistakes, and gets beat all the time even when he doesn't make a mistake. He also never carries us offensively like Lamb sometimes does and did last night. We wouldn't have had a chance to win if it weren't for Lamb's offensive effort. The defensive mistakes were obviously real, so I'm fine with him pointing that out, but I just don't understand how some other players don't get called out more often.

He's been talking about our **** D all season. Again, Marco has been playing more Q4 minutes than Lamb, so when Cliff says we've struggled with Q4 defense and with guys being finesse and not being hard to play against, a lot of that is talking about Marco.

You only have to watch his body language during games and see his post-game statements to know that he isn't exactly thrilled with the defense he's getting from Marco.
