Nate Duncan's redraft had Jamal Murray going #2.

Buddy didn't crack the top 10.

Ivica Zubac has insane potential for a 19-year-old. Lakers got a guy late in the second round who might be more of a lottery talent than all three guys they've actually drafted in the lottery the last few years.

Interesting, while Murray has had some struggles the more Malone allows him to play his natural position the better his numbers get. I know just about every Nuggets fan out there loves the guy, but I had not realized that others had started to see his potential yet.

Just in March he has averaged 12 ppg and 2.7 assists on 50% shooting and 41.7% from 3 in 23.5 mpg, not great but not bad for a guy who turned 20 last week either. He has shown many flashes over the season and I think he will be one heck of a scorer in a couple of years. I still think Saric wins rookie of the year this year though.

He has been impressive every time I have watched him, the great thing about drafted players is after the 1st year people stop worrying so much about where their players were picked and begin to focus more on what they are producing. I think he has a bright future and while Ingram has struggled I still think he is going to be pretty good as well, which gives you guys 2 good building blocks for the next few years.

We've got a Croatian guy on our board who has watched a ton of both Zubac and Zizic and like all other C's fans he's really hyped on Zizic, but thinks Zubac actually has the higher ceiling (by a decent margin).

Based on everything I've read about Zubac, I think he could be one of the top players that come out of last year's draft when we come back and look at it 2-3 years from now. Potentially a Gobert/Deandre/M. Gasol level 2nd round steal (yes I know Gobert was 27th).

Murray has been a bit of a darling for a lot of observers all season long. I became a fan after he had that ROTM streak early in the season, and while he has had his struggles he has shown enough as both a shooter and a creator at a very young age to suggest that he probably has the second most upside in the whole draft (after Simmons). It's also extremely difficult to see him flaming out - at worst he will be a top-tier third guard (although I expect him to be much better than that).

Depends on which guy you ask. They're both pretty talented, and both posted great numbers in the Adriatic league. I think Zubac is a good fit with Lakers and Zizic might be just what the Celtics are looking for. They actually couldve used him this year already.

Zubac's per 36 numbers are comparable to Porzingis's for their first seasons, in points (16.8 for Zub vs 18.1 for Porz), rebounds (9.8 vs. 9.3), blocks (2.4 vs. 2.4), ts% (.545 vs. .518) and PER (17.5 vs. 17.7). Zubac has played far fewer minutes, so it's not a fair comparison, but he also entered the league at age 19 vs. 20 for Porzingis. I think he has a very bright future.

Right. And odd given their games and physical profiles are so dissimilar.

cl2117 wrote:Brown's shooting will absolutely regress a bit, it's going to fluctuate up and down repeatedly for the next couple years as he continues to develop. The real question is where it ends up, but none of us know that, so the best you can do right know is take this run as an encouraging sign that he can do it for stretches. It's just a matter of whether that develops into something consistent (like it did with Butler and Bradley) or if he stays streaky like many of the multitude of other athletic wings that came before him.

The real base for Jaylen's current offense is his inside game. He's got a great post-up game and been really adept at getting guys pinned under the basket and using his size for easy buckets. Between that and his slashing he's got a really solid offensive floor that will allow him to be a roleplayer as long as his athleticism is with him.

He's got to work on his shot, his handles and his defense. If 1/3 come along really well he's a fringe starter/6th man piece. If 2/3 come along he's a legit starter on a good team and if he gets all 3 he's a star. At the moment he's mediocre with a ton of upside in each area. If he can get elite in any one area he'll be stud.

agreed with a lot that is said here because I don't see anyone saying Brown will be an elite shooter based off his hot streak but it is nice or encouraging that he can do it as you already mentioned. Going beyond the numbers it does seem like we are forgetting to account how much confidence, work ethic, rhythm, etc. come into play with Brown's recent performance. I mean comparing his performance earlier in the season when his confidence was shaky, mins were not reliable, etc. is not ideal despite the recent hot streak also not being sustainable. Watching Brown play though I don't have many issues with him as a catch and shoot player but I would like to see him start to develop the ability to create space and rhythm while shooting because currently he is to robotic when he attempts to step back or side step a defender.

Of course. There just aren't many bigs of similar profiles who have entered the league so young recently to compare to. Many compare him to Marc Gasol, but he didn't enter the league until he was 24. Pau Gasol is also a possible comparison, but he didn't enter the league until he was 21, and that was 16 years ago.

I watched alot of both guys play and i can tell you they are of very similar ceiling. They both adapt and learn fast, they both do well with jump in quality of the competition and are smart players. But they are the very opposite in type of Cs they play and what they still need to learn. Zubac is the more traditional back to the basket C but with soft hands and an already good shot. Zizic is the high energy (insane motor) and grit and quite mobile C (he is made of similar cloth Saric is). Better at face to the basket, pnr guy, and has a decent shot, and probably a better rebounder. Both will be double double machines (Zizics numnbers havent changed much since leaving ABA league and plays Euroleague and Turkish league with less touches than before). So Its very hard to compare their ceiling.

I had Zubac on board for the Bulls at 14, was super surprised he fell to the 2nd.

25/7/6 for Saric again today against GSW - this kid is a star.

Since the Sixers traded Ersan Ilyasova:
34 MPG, 20.2 PPG on 46.7 FG% and 30.4 3P%, 8.3 RPG, 4.5 AST and 3.5 TOV.

He's been by far the best player on our team, playmaker on the offensive end, shot creator in late clock situations and catalyst on the defensive end. His impact is even more impressive because he's doing it while his three point shot has been poor lately, which forces him to rely more on his driving game. Shame he's never coming over.

That vid is either filmed or edited kinda weird, very close up, hard to watch.

I been a Saric fan for a while, but I was skeptical actually. I was afraid he will be next Nemanja Bjelica, guy who is versatile, but against NBA competition is either forced or just good for a spot ups only. But he is establishing his skills early on and thats often can be a difference between success and a failure. It definitely helps that he is on a brutal team that unashamedly force feeding him, his current role is much bigger than it was on Efes.

Caris LeVert is starting to excel as a starting Small Forward. I didn't know he was this athletic.

Spoiler:

Yes, I loved him in the draft. In his last year in college, he scored 16.5 ppg, on 53.6% shooting, 44.6% from 3, with 5.3 rpg, 4.9 apg, and 1 spg. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/caris-levert-1.html

I like the fact he made Green his bitch twice already, both now and last time Warriors come to town with alaround numbers and efficiency. And Green is a good defender.

Levert has always had lottery talent. Unfortunately the guy is frail as all hell. It really stunted his development at the college level his last two years at Michigan.
