Dumars couldn't make the Pistons relevant again in any capacity after 8 years of trying. SVG is (very likely) about to get us to the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 years. It's still far too early to compare their tenures to one another, but, as of right now, I'll absolutely take SVG over Dumars.

Dumars had some rough years at the end but he did put together a championship/contending team for YEARS. SVG hasn't done anything close to that yet.

well there was a time when I thought Andre could develop into a superstar so maybe? At this point, Andre is a solid supporting player but unlikely to ever be a true star. Pistons lack top end talent and there ceiling is lower because of that.

That's fair. The only thing I'd say is that (with where Drummond, KCP, Jennings, etc. ended up) Dumars inherited a roster with better talent on it than SVG did. Dumars inherited a roster with Grant Hill (granted, he was leaving, but he was able to sign & trade him for Ben Wallace), and I believe Jerry Stackhouse was on the Pistons roster back then too. That's better than inheriting a busted up Josh Smith, Monroe on a qualifying offer, Jennings (who was seen as a ballhog and awful teammate), and Drummond (knowing now where his talent would end up plateauing).

I know we're all mad with where the Pistons are, and with SVG's coaching, but I truly do think SVG has finally come around and realizes the biggest issues with the team (Reggie, Andre's production on his contact, the idea of maxing out KCP, etc.) and I think we're going to see some pretty substantial changes before next season. Now, if after 2-3 more seasons the Pistons are still struggling to make the playoffs each year, I'll agree with you. But, baring anything completely boneheaded, I think we should wait another 2 years before we call for SVGs head.

The GM Bowers as most of you seem to forget, has been pretty good. Personnel moves haven't been bad. Can anyone name one bad move this front office has made besides those lame we should've drafted Booker bs? Guys need to simply play better. Hit shots, play with effort every single night, be consistent, and for the love make their damn freethrows.

Yes its been a down year but 2.5 games from 5th seed at the moment. If Jackson doesn't miss first two months and starters get a full training camp together, maybe we are fighting for home court...which is honestly, this team's ceiling right now. You guys are so quick to give up on everything but our starters still haven't had a training camp together. They haven't even started together for a full half season yet.

I aint ready to pull the plug quite yet.

Yeah, the Cavs shot phenomenal from 3 (19/30), and yeah, a couple of them were ridiculous (Kyrie's one footer in particular), but we gave up a TON of uncontested looks from deep. That's really odd for this team. Gotta hope it was an anomaly.

It's rarely "your night" when you don't play defense.

The cavs were on fire, but we helped them light the flame. If you let guys take 20 open shots in a row, they are going to get a pretty nice rhythm going and it will be almost impossible to stop them after that. Most of those 1st quarter shots didn't even have a defender within 5 ft of them. Once they got rolling, yeah, they were making some tough shots. That's what happens though. If you let guys have easy looks, then the basket starts looking bigger and suddenly they are making everything.

Our defense has been THE biggest letdown this season. We were among the top 3 in defending the 3 pt line last year with basically the same production from the players. Now we're basically scraping by each night.
