Love his game. Right now, he is just deferring to the vets. When he gains more experience and confidence, he will break out!

I think he will end up being very good. His IQ off the charts and he simply knows how to play the game.
At the same time, every player goes through a maturation process. Levert will have some bumps in the roads even if he is consistently trending upwards.
It's good that we're giving him a little more to handle bit by bit to test the limits of his efficacy. You don't want to throw the responsbility of a star SG on him and expect him to succeed. That could destroy the process. I just look forward to watching him get better and better.

Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
Next year is gonna be a good year for Levert. He's fortunate to have a coach who doesnt mind his young players screwing up when trying to expand their game and thus the lumps the team eats now will pay dividends down the line. The beauty of not being forced to win games at all costs to "save face". The team already long decided that there was no point to win games to spite BOS, theyre gonna do whats best for them and if thats to suffer a 70 loss season then so be it, they're gonna try to grow their players as much as they can while theyre at it.
Levert's got some nice body control. Its like a huge difference from when u look at IW. IW is a bull who's powerful and quick but lacks finesse, so if the defender gets to the spot in time or guess IW move right, IW is screwed and boom TO. Whereas Levert has got that slinky smooth ability to contort his body and get around people to make the shot or pass. Obviously both are unpolished as hell due to being rookies, but its still a good sign.
The contrasts in these two players drafted are interesting. Like a change of pace back in the NFL. Lin for example was all explosion and quickness his 1st coupla years of getting real PT, then he learned subtlety and changing speeds as he got older and becoming waaaaay better and more rounded player than before, even with the slight loss of his quicks.

Remember Vince Carter was Brook's vet/all-star when he entered the league. Goes back to the comparison of KP wanting Melo to stay in NY.
Kids who want to be great will asked to be mentored. We don't think highly of Brook's game but he is a very smart guy and player that Caris and the rest of the Net kids can learn from. Especially, character wise. He's experienced the foot injuries and trade rumors. Without Lopez, LeVert may never learn how to feature the big man in an NBA offense or play in a defined role with other stars around him. You end developing a talent but someone who struggles to play team basketball.

Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
LeVert has been awesome and mightily overlooked by the casual NBA fans, because he plays on this Nets team that is the target of being ridiculed no matter what. If LeVert can stay out of injury troubles and continue progressing, his ceiling is skyhigh. His BB-IQ is off the charts and he plays so composed and smart that its a breath of fresh air! ( Especially compared to most of his teammates, Whitehead, im looking at you)
One thing that worries me tho is that he still cant land correctly from his jumps. He is constantly landing awkwardly from his jumps and it is a serious injury threat. Especially considering his injury history.
He should start playing a bit more each game, but its nice to see him being packaged with Lin and Brook as our main 3 players. They are developing good chemistry. Also LeVert on the floor always gives us a extra playmaker and ball handler.

He hasnt been overlooked.... he just hasnt played, hasnt had a very good or spectacular game, and most teams have a young player of that level
who notices a young guy who has only played like 20ish games and hasnt done anythign spectacular?

Yeah I've noticed LeVert lands awkwardly alot. He was trying to drive past Adams (I think) on the baseline last night and for a second I thought he broke his own ankles. Definitely makes me nervous, but let's hope he gets it under control.

Well, I probably have my fan glasses on when I say that in my opinion Caris has outperformed (not that much in numbers) and shown more potential than Jaylen Brown and Brandon Ingram, both of who are widely regarded as the top prospects out of this draft (in addition to Simmons who remains a questionmark until he plays).
This rookie class has not done anything special league-wide. Thus I truly believe that out of all those players who have not done that much, Caris must be one of the better prospects with what he has shown, not just raw numbers, but maturity, BBIQ and composure with silky smooth moves. Saric and Embiid are in a league of its own numbers wise, but Embiid barely played and has been around the league for many years and Saric is a european pro coming over who is bound to be a step or 2 ahead of young american rookies, but with much lower ceiling potential wise.
Dare I say it that Saric will be the ROY this year? But probably one of the weakest ROY awards in years.

The more I see LeVert play, the more it makes sense Marks had to grab him at #20. Kid was not falling into the second round, doesnt matter what the Mocks were saying. Somebody was going to bet on him.

He def has the "IT" factor to be a 20ppg guy, I don't he will ever get to TMAC lead the league levels but 20ppg has to be a certainty with all of the tools he has

LeVert has had multiple good games. I don't think he's being overlooked at all though if we're talking about people who really follow the sport, everyone knows that the Nets got a steal here. Casual fans really don't much about the sport as is to pay mind to what a 20 year old on a 12 win team is doing.

Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
I think we keep hearing stuff like, "Nets brass see LeVert as an eventual starter.", from different beats because they don't want to put unfair expectations on him and chance ruining his development, cause imho, they view him as an eventual perennial All Star.
