No, in the playoffs you don't get the open looks you get in the regular season.
Uhhhhhh yeah they do remember the heat vs mavs finals (2nd time) the way the mavs moved the ball that series, man it was a thing of beauty. All they had were open 3's and basically all series long. That was against a very good Lebron led defense. That's also the finals, so you don't think teams can still generate open looks in the lesser rounds because players happen to play harder in the playoffs? Really?

No, they won't get the same looks they have been getting. I am surprised that you think they will. Cleveland limited the clean looks Klay and Steph got. Why wouldn't they limit the clean looks that the guys from Miami get?

Maybe because miami has been the best team in the nba over the past 2 months? If they keep playing the way they have been playing then they won't even face the cavs in the first round.

Spo should get COY while Miami could go to the ECF at this rate.

They have a deep roster, solid defenders, good chemistry and impressive ball movement. Pretty much everything needed to succeed in the PS

Thanks to the NBA scheduling Miami are about to lose a game because they're playing against a team 21 hours after their last game started and about 18 hours since their last game finished. Wtf is that. Whilst the other team didn't even play the night before.

You aren't making much sense. Cleveland limited the clean looks Klay and Steph got. Miami certainly isn't a Golden State. Nobody is more prepared to defend the 3-point shot than playoff Cleveland. It will be up to Miami to find a way to score when teams dig-in and prepare for the same offense in a 7-game series.

Well thats a pretty contradictory statement

But man am i jealous of Heat fans. Spo is THE best coach in the league IMO. He gets the absolute most out of guys consistently. First it was guys like Tyler Johnson and Whiteside, D-league castoffs. Now he has guys like Waiters and James Johnson looking like completely new players after years of being meh at best.

If im the Cavs I would not want to deal with them in the 1st round. Let that be the Celtics or Wizards problem

This is what you call a schedule loss

Never understand the back to back schedule. Just play the games every other night.

No the heat will continue to get open 3's as long as waiters and dragic are healthy. Will they continue to knock them down? Probably not at the level they are right now. I do agree with you that if the cavs faced miami in the playoffs miami would be lucky to get the series to 6 games, but you obviously don't watch them if you think the open looks are just going to fade away. To many shooters on this team for that to happen and even our best penetrators are great 3 point shooters too.

No, in the playoffs you don't get the open looks you get in the regular season.

sure.....

sure.............

Coach MIA fans how how playoff basketball works.... I am sure they have no idea what the playoffs look like.....

A couple of the major themes that explain this 2017 heat team are displayed in those two gifs. to sum up the season tho

1. Culture - IT MATTERS: the expectations from the front office are met in terms of behavior and effort level, guys are willing to work to achieve the fitness level theyre expected to be at, there is prestige and intelligence overseeing every move, og's like juwan, chris quinn, zo, battier, ud are there to remind everyone whats up, same coaching staff - who has the full support of the front office, and effective communication on all levels.

2. SPO IS A HELL OF A COACH/THESE GUYS PLAY HARD AS HELL : Well, i thought this shouldve been obvious, but yeah man people are starting to figure out how awesome this guy is at his job. these guys have bought into what the coaching staff is selling. hyper focused, aggressive and fundamentally sound defense - EVEN WHITESIDE is staying home and boxing out for boards rather than chasing blocks. These guys run through, over and around every screen with recklass abandon. 50/50 balls are more like 75/25 cause jj, tj, jrich, mcgruder, etc dont give an eff and will risk it all to win the glueguy battles. Offensive scheme of constant slash and kick with movement every night, fits our primary ball handlers perfectly, which opens up things for the shooters who started hitting those shots during this run. NOBODY GIVES UP. Spo has these guys ready to die on the court

3. trust: the front office trusted spo and the players enough not to nuke this roster. they trusted spo enough to extend him in the face of a rebuild. spo trusts every member of this team enough to come through when their time comes. he'll run 4 plays in a row for a hot ellington, he'll let hassan post up every few minutes when he feels he has good position, HE LETS DION WAITERS PLAY HERO BALL, he trusts the work these guys put in and theyre responding. These guys feel respected and theyre responding with career years.

4. Conditioning: this team seems too have more energy than others. its evident in 4th quarters. Aside from hassan, no one ever looks tired or a step slow. during the regular season, its a good way to beat visiting teams at home.
our home record over this two month span or so has been nuts.

overall, guys are stepping up to fill roles, the defense is awesome, good shots are being manufactured out of the guards penetration and the shooters are hot, ball movement is emphasized and embraced, the iso scoring/ shot creation burden that was a huge concern coming in has been answered as a collective between james johnson, tj, dragic, and dion and were getting just enough of it to keep up with the opposing team. Just everything kinda coming together and players excelling in roles and bringing it every night to reach a higher level as a collective.

22-5 since January 13th. They've won > 80% of their games during this stretch. :onfire:

They can upset the Cavs. Whiteside will dominate. I have a feeling Waiters and Dragic will be too much on the Cavs league worst defense.

There's no way the Heat will upset the Cavs in the first round. They will be 6th or 7th seed.

I feel that people don't talk enough about James Johnson. He's arguably the 3rd most important piece on the team. I mean just look at those clips. Definitely a smart player who's pretty darn efficient with good all-around game and has passing great ability.

He's exactly who Terrence Williams was supposed to be, but that's a different story.

He was outstanding tonight. He put on a clinic on how to front Cousins:

Nope. Terrence Williams, former Louisville player who's supposed to be the next great point forward. He sucked in the NBA. :(
