Dude is definitely back on the good kush. His decision making the past few games have been real suspect.

A perfect example, Wiz up 3 in fourth quarter, Morris gets the rebound. Terrible outlet pass in traffic stolen and Curry hits a 3 in the corner. Or the fourth foul early in the third quarter.

Switching for no reason and creating mismatches that Dallas was able exploit with ease, not hustling back. closing out on shooters or boxing out with any consistency, just a group of guys that's bought into the hype of how good they are.

The record might tell a different story, but things are not looking good for the Wizards right now.

I concur, hopefully this loss is a wake up call to the team. It's time to take defense serious again. This team has to win 50 games this year and finish with a top 3 seed.

Maybe the worst thing was going 4-1 on the road trip playing almost zero defense in every game. You can talk about Oubre, Sato, Mahinmi playing more and that's fine. But until the starters play up to their capabilities on D, we're a .500 team.

Lack of effort and focus.

John never seemed right after the injury.

And Jennings is definitely in Maynor, Burke, Ernie fail territory.

Don't get putting Jennings in the rotation as a two for stretches.

Want Oubre back in rotation. Our defensive effort is terrible.

Brooks continues to do that and I don't now why, putting Jennings with Wall. Oubre is fine for Smith or Sato. Frontcourt has to play better though. Defense is regressing.

Just tuning in from HI. I see the Wizards lost by 5. :(

Looking at the box score (in a post mortem autopsy kinda way):

--I see that Dallas shot 50%FG and 44% (14-32) 3PT. :o Hard to beat a team that shoots that well.
--I notice that Morris had 6 fouls but only 5 points; and, that Dirk (in Dallas) had 20 points. Guessing he tried to play Dirk closely.
--Seth Curry and Yogi Ferrell attempted a combined 10 FTs. Ouch. (Wall and Beal only shot 9 combined) Guessing guard penetration is problematic.
--Looks like you can't blame this one on Gortat. 8 points, 10 rebounds in (just 24 minutes). Finished +2
--Bogdanovic ... hmmm. 19 points in just 24 minutes. 4-5 FG and 8-9 FTs. HOWEVER, once again in the minus. Finished -6 (Bogs had 4 fouls and 4 turnovers.)
--Versus an old team of his, Mahinmi finished -13 in just 18 minutes.
--Some dude I NEVER heard of, Nicolas Brussino had 11 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes. Finished +12
--Off their bench, Nerlens Noel also in 24 minutes had 12 points, 3 rebounds. Finished +7
--JJ Barea had 13 assists with 0 turnovers.
--Jason Smith finished -8 in 7 minutes.
--Tomas Satoransky finished -9 in 6 minutes.

KELLY OUBRE DNP-CD.

CONCLUSIONS
=============

Concerns: Defense is suffering. Team chemistry is in flux. Scott Brooks is tipping his hand of favoring Bogdanovic over Satoransky and Oubre. Brooks is playing Gortat less and Oubre not at all. The problems I see are that Sato and Oubre are plus defenders, young guys, and guys whose confidences are shaky. I think the team is LOSING it's mojo. Bogdanovic is a gunner, but that's not necessarily a good thing if it throws off the rest of the team. Otto Porter hasn't had a plus scoring game in a while. Morris is losing confidence. Oubre is distraught.

Also, Jennings? What does he really bring?

Looking at Dallas, they've done really well adding Barnes and Noel; and bringing in CHEAP TALENT in Seth Curry, Yogi Ferrell, and (???) Brussino (Sounds like a guy from the "Godfather" movie.) Washington has made different, more expensive moves; which, are fine if they keep winning in the short run. Otherwise???

I hope Brooks realizes that defense wins and chemistry is key. Oubre and Sato NEED THEIR MINUTES. Brooks is riding a FINE LINE with his C by committee. God forbid, it might be better if Gortat or Mahinmi were OUT of the lineup; rather than them splitting minutes. Seems like diminishing returns from Marcin, who I'm CONVINCED IS BETTER OVERALL THAN MAHINMI. But the reality is Mahinmi makes the bucks and he seems to be Brooks' favorite.

Enough from me.

I didn't see this game. :D

This is on Scott Brooks.

I think the best thing to do would be to sit Bogdanovic a whole game.

I would START Oubre in place of Morris. Just one game.

I would explain to Morris that I'm trying to wake the team up. Morris would be the first sub for Oubre or Porter.

The reason is length, athleticism, and defense wins ... along with EFFECTIVE SCORING. (Gortat's points help a lot. Not sure if Mahinmi is the answer but I dunno).

But ... that WON'T happen :)

Other games the starters got blown out. I do see a concern if Yogi and Seth are matching Brad and John.

However, this game the box score would indicate the second unit got handled.

I think Bogs has been the constant when it comes to zero defense of late. Less Oubre less defense. (This game, looks like Sato got served! Not the norm per se.)

Sato gave up 2 layups to Devin Harris early and yes, Bojan is not good on D. Neither is Jennings. But starters came in and the game got worse in the fourth quarter against a team that is averaging 98ppg without Wes Matthews. Dirk and Barnes just killed us.

Honestly, this is a better time to have a slump than when playoffs start.
