I was wondering the same thing. I watched the Cliff post game after Bulls game and I don't remember that comment. Entire post game interview is in the last GT. Should be easy to prove or disprove.

He didn't mention Roberts at all. Dude where are you getting this stuff?

Go watch Marv's post-game presser from tonight on the Hornets site if you think he's given up.

Dude he didnt mention ANYONE. He gave specific examples of bad plays on defense so just match the play with they player and bingo. Its not rocket science to figure out who he is talking about.

Clifford tore into Marco a while back but no one cared.

He pointedly said only a few guys improved as he had hoped.

His boy JVG laid into Nic and Frank...for minutes on end....on national tv....during the GSW game. No way JVG does that without Clifford's implicit blessing. BTW a respected coach hammering 2 players is a massive big boy compliment.

Last season Clifford got into Al even though he was 15/17 from the field. How do people not remember this?

(7:42 from the Chicago post game presser) "The misconception is, I love when people say the NBA is a players league. Common now. Its not even close" Coach Cliff

So Cliff lost the locker room because he mentioned critical defensive mistakes in a post game presser of a game that we once again gave away in Q4 while not naming names? Pretty weak theory.

Do you remember at the end of 2014-15 when Cliff talked about Al needing to drop weight and change his game?

You mean the part literally right after he said he was doing a bad job of getting the team ready to play? Yeah I bet that got them all fired up.

The context of the quote was that he was taking the blame for our performance.

I mean, this entire convo is just weird. The entire point was attention to detail and not just beating teams with talent....cause razor thin margins.

HS and college coaches blast players for less, let alone professional coaches.

Ya the context was how the team is not buying into his system....Which is EXACTLY what I was saying but ok..

I'm on Joest's side. I haven't seen the same kind of "run through brick walls" effort from the team that is typical of the first couple of seasons since things starting going south after the initial hot streak this year. On the other hand, I think some of that may be attributable to guys being banged up or trying to prevent re-injury. MKG and maybe Kemba are the only ones that seem to bring some fight into losing efforts consistently.

So it would have been better for Cliff to say, "It's a players league, so it's not really my fault that the guys keep not playing well. They just suck."

We keep losing. Cliff tried to own it. He was extremely humble and critical of himself. If the team wants to turn on him for saying he's responsible for our on court performance, that is ridiculous.

So we're mad at him for criticizing players, but we're also mad at him for acting like coaches are responsible for how those players play. Something is not adding up there.

Forget this game. Dispirited effort.
