Is Cliff starting to loose the locker room?

Post#1 » by Joest2003 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 3:36 am

Things are at an all time bad for the Clifford era Hornets. A lot of people have been talking about his questionable pressers lately where he has said himself the players are not buying into his system and its his job to get them to. After listening to his rant the other day and watching tonight's game against the Pacers it looks like the players have checked out. What do you guys think?

We have a team built of high character guys. There is nothing to this theory.

Can we agree there is a difference between the front office deciding the team needs a new voice and players giving up on a coach?

Half of the Chicago post game presser is Cliff talking about how its his job to connect to the team and get them to buy in and he has done a bad job at that this year.

I just dont pass your guys requirements as a true Hornets fan because im also a Uconn fan so automatically anything I say you have to disagree. Its ok im used to it

I think he's been losing them slowly for a while, maybe when he kept asking them to dig, dig, dig and they kept getting three-bombed b/c of it. We have a team full of nice guys so they're not going to make it readily apparent that they've checked out but some of them have to be thinking "Man, I wish coach would make some adjustments" from time to time.

There's just no flexibility or creativity in Clifford's scheme and system. The league has caught onto what he wants to do and he just don't have the proper adjustments when somebody put a wrench in his gameplan.

Yes, he's said so himself. I really hope both him and Cho are fired in the off season.

Where is Ben Gordon when you need him? Only he could tell us if Clifford needs to humble himself or not.

Classic managerial and HR move. "Timmy you continue sucking even though we've covered this a dozen times including 2 formal write-ups. How can I better communicate this issue so you stop sucking?"

Translation: I'm documenting this because you're almost done here.

It could also just be them giving up on the season in general, but not necessarily the coach. Its hard to say. I wouldn't be too surprised if they were starting to tune him out, though.

Most of you guys wanted a tankjob anyways. Guess it's salt no matter what.

Yeah if only we had a good beat writer that could shed some light on this. Oh yeah, he was caught driving drunk. I can only assume that morale is so low in the locker room that it drove Bonnell to alcoholism as collateral damage. :P

I dunno either, it just seems like this team has always fought for the 8th seed ever since Clifford's been here and this year they don't seem to be fighting as hard for it as they have been. They had some really high expectations going into this season and the reality check really nut-shotted them.

You won't hear me complaining :D. Aside from tonight most of our recent games have been competitive L's, which is perfect for someone rooting for the mini-tank. I think its pretty clear at this point that we are much better than our record and are too good to really be deserving of a top 10 pick. I'm much more excited about next season now. I'd be pretty bummed if it looked like we were heading towards being sacrificed at the altar of Lebron in the first round.

I'm usually a pro-tank guy but I don't really care anymore. I can't get excited about the draft with this FO so I'd rather they make the playoffs just to please the casuals.

I read this and imagined Cliff walking around like Mr Magoo trying to find the locker room. Probably ends up in the boiler room trying to teach defence to a bunch of janitors

When Cliff called timeout in the third quarter during a Pacers run he just walked out on the floor and made a waving sign, I thought he was really going to walk off for a second.
