What's your future forecasting for this team?

Post#1 » by FrodoBaggins » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:14 pm

I think we breakout in the 2019-2020 season like OKC in 2010 or GSW in 2013. 45-50 wins. I think this gives us an optimistic framework...

2016-2017.... Finish off season, acquire two lottery picks
2017-2018... Continual youth development... Expect another lottery pick IMO,
2018-2019... I think we burst out the gates and shock everyone with a great first half of the season, but then come back down to earth and just make or miss the playoffs
2019-2020... Breakout season... Core of Skal/WCS/Hield + The 3 lottery picks from 2017 and 2018. 45-50 wins with a bright future

I feel this is an optimistic outlook for our future... I would be happy with a 2-3 year framework like this.

I think who we take with our 2 lottery picks this year will be crucial. Hopefully we pick right.

It's going to be tough. How many teams have risen really high without a top 3 pick? Not too many. We won't be getting one this season so it has to be next.

This years Denver Nuggets (can't see a top 3 pick that I can think off) is the formula we should be copying imo for next season, we need to get a starting caliber SF and hope WCS/Skal/Hield can rise to a good level, good mix of starting vets and developing rookies.

I'm usually wrong though

Acquire a point guard and small forward in the draft
Finish next season with first option Skal and Buddy putting up close to all star numbers
Finish with 38 wins

Make the post season in 2019

I'm the biggest Skal fan but he's not being a number 1 option

Forget draft position. If you did a re draft this year Skal goes top3 and buddy goes top 5

I could see Skal going top 3 but Hield wouldn't be top 5 in a re-draft.

Which 5 do you take over Hield?

I have Simmons, Ingram, Skal and maybe Chriss.

No on Brown. No on Dunn. No on Bender. No on Maker. No on Murray.

IMO if there was a draft redo Phi still takes Simmons, Lakers still take Ingram, Celts stick with Brown and Suns stay with Bender. Skal goes 5th to the Wolves.

I guess it's a case of me not seeing enough of Bender's play. I have Hield over him from the little I've seen. Brown is no doubt better defensively but Hield has better offensive skills.

I think PHX would take Chriss before Bender.

Simmons
Ingram
Brown
Chriss
Skal

Hield goes in the same spot.

I have it

Simmons
Ingram
Skal
Brown
Hield
Murray

I can see the argument hield over murray but long term I like hield. All he has to do it correct his passing and better his handling a bit and he's good.
