I think literally every person on this board recognizes that he's by far the most important player on this team and the most responsible for our success.

That'd mean something's changed since the "rank our players in terms of importance to the team" thread when most put Batum first (which has since been proven to be demonstrably false).

No need to debate. That particular thread can be found 1 page after this one. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1490735

And looking at the "ranking" thread I'd say Kemba easily came in 1st. What's weird is how that thread also contained posts dismissing other peoples' opinions.

I guess you wouldn't know if it had or not, since you don't normally post on here.

And there were only two people that posted in that ranking thread that had Kemba below Nic - BDave (not sure how he would defend that claim, but he definitely tends to have outlier opinions), and a Lin fan.

* 3 out of 16. 8-)

I was just about to delete that spreadsheet too. I bet that if we re-did it that Zeller and Frank would see bumps. Batum would be really unlikely to keep that #2 spot IMHO.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

No, I don't normally post on here. I've done it a bit more frequently lately but it appears that may have been a mistake on my part...

Feel free to post here or not, but please don't make up opinions that you are critical of and then attribute those to the board. The most negative thing said about Kemba this season was ironically by catch when he said Kemba just stopped trying before the All Star game. We all recognize how great Kemba's season has been relative to earlier in his career and to the rest of the team, and you are not correct if you argue otherwise.

See my username and then look at that thread who I picked as the most important player in this team.

Eh eh eh I was right. Post ASB Kemba is averaging 27ppg, 6apg, 4rpg in 7 games. He's shooting 47% from the field and 48% on 3s.

I don't think he just stopped trying though. He's not that selfish. He just needed a break. It's not exactly the first season where he had his production dip for a few games.

I never said he stopped trying either but I said that he'll start preserving himself and playing not to get injured. We all know a major part of the game is mental.

I think Kemba's style of play takes a tremendous amount of energy to be effective and the wear & tear of the season plus fatigue issues mean hes gonna have a few off stretches.

Our offense just doesn't run without him.

Other than Westbrook/OKC we are probably the most dependent team on an individual player on offense.

I actually disagree. Kemba is barely in the top 20 in usage.

Guys like Harden, IT, and DeRozan have significantly higher usage rates.

Kemba ties Baron for most 20/10 ast games in franchise history with 15.

Kemba has had an amazing year. He has been great on offense. On defense, he has been good with help defense and taking charges but is it just me or is his on ball defense really bad this year?

I feel like his guy is constantly getting by him. Maybe he is tired with all the energy he has to expend on offense but it just seems that he can't stay in front of his guy.

Do you all notice this as well?

He is 2nd in the league in drawn charges, most by far for a guard.

I want to see Kemba take the leap that Westbrook and Wall have taken. Those guys have the speed and athleticism, and are bigger than Kemba, but they were more scorers and such, didn't have great vision and playmaking in their earlier years. Now, just look at Westbrook. He looks to playmake and he's in double assists numbers on a daily basis. Wall also has high assists. Batum may be a crutch to Kemba in some ways. We know Kemba can score and his jump shot is pretty reliable now. But his passing skills and vision need to be worked on. I hope he works on that and just watches tape and such in the off-season. That will take Kemba to the next level where he can be a top-tier PG.

That really is a big problem on the Hornets. I think last season having Lin really helped Kemba. Took some wear and tear off of him, although he still played big minutes. A good defensive, scoring, distributing 6th man would help Kemba. Batum only partially fits in that he's a fine distributor. But he doesn't assert himself as a scorer the way Kemba. Lillard has McCollum, Lowry has Joseph and DeRozan is a big-time scorer. Kemba needs someone like that, imo.
