New Wolverine movie, Logan, is fantastic. Even if you don't typically enjoy comic book movies.

I recently became unemployed, and just had my Surface Pro 3 just died earlier this week. I'm not in a position to buy a new one, or even take this to be fixed. I got an old desktop of mine working, posted this on Facebook. An old work associate of mine from my days in DoD, who I haven't talked to in years (except online) saw the post. She offered and just gave me her brand new Surface Pro 3, still in the box! She is getting read to retire, and is downsizing, and had this laying around for a number of months.
I take this as a sign I've been leading a pretty good, purposeful life. I do really spend a lot of time helping others, but really never expected something like this. What comes around goes around. This works in a positive sense as well!
Good luck on your job search. I was in the IT field and was unemployed once for 7 months and know it can be discouraging. Many times things work out for the best, and you end up in a great situation. Just keep plugging away.

I'm happy for your good fortune and share your belief that what goes around, comes around.
If you won't mind me prying, if you're planning to work in the Federal space, the hire freeze will be a headache for you unless you head on over to the DOD. What, generally, do you do??
The hiring freeze as well as the chaos surrounding Trump have been intensely less than helpful. The fact that the place I would potentially work - state and USAID, potentially has a 37% cut pretty much dooms any chances of getting a job there soon. I'm looking elsewhere.

One of my wife's best friend's kid told her a few weeks ago that he was shipping out for Syria. I had no idea what he would be doing, but as special forces, I assumed he was doing air strikes. Now we hear that the US is engaged in sort of a strange peacekeeping mission in Syria. Obama didn't approve this kind of thing due to the risks. I really hope he's OK, but wow, definitely a scary situation.

More of a random statement then a thought.
But if the Wizards somehow make the playoff finals I will be flying to Washington from melbourne, australia to be there.
Question.... what would the likely good of me being able to get a ticket to a game, how much roughly?
I'm not getting ahead of myself though as I've been a wiz supporter for about 16 years and I know how they can dissapoint

Cool! That's a good question. I'm sure there will be plenty of tickets available for the first couple rounds, and the box office price will be steep, say over $100 for the lowest price seats.
The EC Finals and NBA Finals would be uncharted territory. If the Wizards were to somehow make it the West team would have home court so they would be playing games 3 and 4 at the Verizon Center. It's been a long time since we've had a major sports championship series in DC, I think when the Caps were in the Stanley Cup Finals in 98. Tickets would be pricey, I'd think.

Thanks! Even if they manage to make the eastern conference finals I'm still thinking about making the trip over!
Fair way off though. The way we are playing is Some of the best I've seen since arenas, Jamison and butler era. Maybe better

.
I'm sure that it irks the NBA front office, but teams from the nation's biggest cities (except for the Clips) suck. NYK, Brooklyn, Chicago, and the Lakers will all miss the playoffs. Not sure the next year or two will change things for them.
Just amazing how much the legendary franchises in the big cities have fallen.

Boston travels well and pays well though. They're loyal. And Toronto carries an entire nation of fans. There's a reason the NBA looks towards a place like Mexico City as a market and promotes the Ene Be A. It's a lot of people over there.

I've been an avid photographer for a few years, and finally organized a website: bobsilverstein.smugmug.com
Don't want to make any money on this. Just for fun and to help charities. Have taken lots of photos of people for non-profits, but unfortunately can't post due to privacy issues.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread Part 4
After seemingly months in the wilderness, being unemployed for the entire year so far, I happened upon a job add about a month ago that was posted back in early February. Its like as close to a dream job as I could imagine. I would actually get to work on all the crazy ideas I wrote about.
I reached out to someone I knew in passing, found out the job was still available - turns out the customer has rejected the last two rounds of candidates.
Got an interview, which I felt I did maybe a C or C- on, but got a follow-up with the senior folks in the company.
I absolutely rocked that interview and just got a soft offer a few minutes ago.
I just need one last visit with the customer....
But wow, this past Wizards game is the first one of the year I haven't watched within a few days. I haven't watched anything these past two days, although my son tells me we won. Its recorded, so I'm guessing I'll get to it in the next day or so.
I'd been so cramming my time with sports and politics shows, just to keep my mind off the stress of being unemployed with a house payment, car payment and two kids in college away.
The last few days, I've just sat there with wonderful music playing and a smile on my face.
One more interview...
