3 innings, 3 hits, 0 BB, 0 R, 6 Ks - likely done for the night - 43 pitches, 31 strikes

A 72% strike/ball ratio... damn, Phil sucks. :)

NYKGM, do you like these Trenton announcers as much as I do? I think they are tremendous, the best minor league announcing team I've heard.

Absolutely agree. Considering that minor league games are usually hard to stay focused on, they really make it a joy to listen to the game. I've gone to a number of Trenton games and watched Hughes last year, Clemens this year, and a few more. And I've still been more into the game listening to their broadcast than I was sitting behind home plate watching Phil Hughes blow batters away.

I can't really compare it to other minor league announcers cause I don't listen to any other ones, but they're better than a hell of a lot of major league announcers so that tells me all I need to know.

July 28th at the earliest, I'd expect him to be back for an August 3rd start. The Yankees are not going to rush him, this team is going to have to sack up and win games before he comes back.

It looks like this:

July 18th (Trenton): 55-60 pitches
July 23rd (Scranton): 70-75 pitches
July 28th (PROBABLY Scranton): 90+ pitches
August 2nd (or whenever Igawa's scheduled start would be): BACK IN PINSTRIPES

Phil Hughes on the mound today in Trenton...so far:
2 innings, 1 hit, 1 BB, 1 ER, 3 Ks

In the first inning he gave up a double and the guy stole 3rd, then scored on a throwing error, or else he wouldn't have given up a run. Only needed 8 pitches in the 2nd inning.

wouldnt the run be unearned if it scored on a throwing error?

Yeah, it's up to the official scorer. The fly ball following the throwing error which allowed the run was fairly deep (in the scorer's opinion) to score the run, had the runner still been on 3rd base. Therefore it is an earned run. Had Hughes struck out the next batter, it would've been unearned.

Hughes' line: 4 innings, 2 hits, 2 BB, 1 R, 5 Ks - 57 pitches, PROBABLY done for the day

Phil said he was fatigued after his start. And this was after 60 pitches. IMO, he needs 2 more rehab starts.

After last night's rainout, Hughes will be back on the road to recovery tonight in Scranton. Hopefully this is his last rehab start and we see him back in pinstripes by next week! The way the Yankee rotation is set up, Igawa is scheduled to pitch this Thursday and next Wednesday, so I guess Hughes will be pitching next Wednesday if all goes well tonight. You gotta love it, it's been one good thing after another for this team the past 3 weeks.

If he needs another rehab start after this one, give it to him. I have no interest in rushing Hughes.

if he saids hes tired after 60 pitches in his last outing why in the world would you call him out? I dont care if he is the next santana, he stays down there until he can go atleast 100. no sense in calling him up if he cant give you 100 pitches- unless you want him in your bullpen as your next great reliever
