Focusing on Porzingis

Post#1 » by DoItALL9 » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:14 pm

Trade Carmelo Anthony & Joakim Noah + a 2019 1st round pick top 10 protected until 2023 converting to 2 2nd round picks for Brook Lopez & Jeremy Lin (Lin likely could be substituted for anyone currently on the roster but RHJ or Caris Levert)

1) When Carmelo talks about playing in New York is he committed to only playing for the Knicks or would he be open to the Brooklyn Nets? (I've never heard him say anything in regards to that team. He wants to stay in NY supposedly for family reasons. This would allow him to maintain his current life. The trade kicker could likely be accommodated)
2) Phil Jackson seems to be intent on getting rid of Carmelo with any reasonable trade even possibly to some detriment (I say this because the Clippers trade was a possibility without one of their big 3)
3) Lin allows NYK to release Derrick Rose and not overpay for a PG this summer. He might not be a great fit in the triangle but Hornacek has had some success with Lin's style of PG so they should be able to maximize his skills
4) Noah being off the books allows NYK to spend wisely this summer to complement KP
5) Brooklyn needs young talent and can absorb Noah's contract without hurting its present for the most part.
6) Brook Lopez might not be the best to pair next to KP for defensive purposes but Phil was able to make the triangle work with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum in LA. Offensively, KP and Brook both have range out to the 3pt line so there shouldn't be lane clogging (which works for Lin)
7) If the experiment totally failed for whatever reason it should be easier to trade Brook Lopez than Carmelo a year from now or later
