Joel Embiid -- The Process is now Live

They have roughly $1 billion in cap space. Time to spend.

I don't think they will spend it next year. We want to see how Simmons, Embiid, Saric and our 1st pick this coming draft play together and then maybe look at spending on decent free agents the year after that on whatever we need to make us contendors.

I don't see how that benefits anyone but Josh Harris. Doesn't have to be long term signings can be 1-2 year deals. In fact that may be preferable.

My only concern would be whatever decent free agent you bring in especially on only a 1 or 2 years...is going to take away from the development of an individual in some way if they are playing in that spot. If they are in a contract year... potentially even worse because they is a risk they could be playing selfish to an extent because they are in a contract year.

In a way you only have to look at Sacramento since they got rid of Boogie Cousins... I thought they would be pure trash but suddenly these young kids are playing out of their skin now that the Alpha guy isn't there anymore. Boogie was holding everyone back and nobody even knew it.

I still think we are a year away from needing to start spending on free agents.

Well... that's exactly what you want. You want to keep money to spend on your best players going forward.

I'm not saying don't go out and spend now... I am saying spending now to bring in someone that is going to hold back the future of this team is not always a great idea. We aren't winning a championship next season.

Parsons just tore his meniscus and is getting surgery, meanwhile, weeks later Embiid is still consulting specialists and now the team is reviewing their opinions. I don't mind any of that, but speed it up - there's still not a timetable for anything.

if healthy and plays 30-35 mins, he will put up better stats than KAT and on top of that give you league leading defence as the Sixers defensive anchor. It's crazy unheard of in terms of what Embiid is going to put up playing next to Simmons

Boy you guys will have a tough decision regarding an extension/resigning/matching offer sheet, even more so if (knock on wood) he has another incident next year. What do you guys think is the most likely outcome regarding his contract situation? I'm pulling for the big fella(no bruno), would be a historic shame to not see the guy healthy and fully unleashed.

My guess? Likely to have a long winning career, paid max and be limited during regular season but play big in the play-offs.

Yup, it's like being in a long distance relationship with a supermodel that you get to spend time with only 2-3 months in a year.

It was 28 minutes, and no I don't expect that to be the norm next year. The restrictions were based on limiting stress on his foot, and the foot is fine.

Maybe it starts out that way, but I would expect it to get to 32-34 minutes pretty quickly if things go well, and for him to start playing in some back to back's.

Restrictions are to prevent stress related injuries. They don't do anything against acute injuries like what happened to his knee.
