The Vent Pit

Post#1 » by Invictus88 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 7:32 pm

The idea for this thread is simple.

We've all been angry at one point or another. We've all seen posts reflecting that which isn't actually forwarding basketball discussion in various threads.

Here is a spot to put these posts.

My hope is two-fold:
1. Provide a safe environment to just vent the anger. Get it out of your system. Relate to the venting of others, etc. (Try not to vent about other posters.)
2. Remove the need to make these type of posts elsewhere; thereby getting rid of pollution that sometimes derails other threads of discussion.

If this is somehow not what mods want to see feel free to shut this thread down. It's just an idea I had on a Tuesday afternoon.

Otherwise.... HAVE AT IT!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :)

m@@@fker A@@ BLEEP S@it, fire everyobn!, trade everyone, we suck! Ah man needed that. Now, fire everyone, let's go get that top 3 pick and have a superstar (more than likely a decent player, hell probably more likely a bust). Fire everyone!

could work if you (or mods) lay some rules. no venting about posters, no replying to other people venting, etc.

As long as you vent about basketball and not other posters it seems fine. Go ahead, let it go...

Maybe we'll try a no reply policy?
Post what ever basketball/Pistons rant you want, but once it's posted that's it. No back and forths, arguments and discussions. I'm sure the other mods will have some input, but I think/hope that could work.

I just want our identity back, this lack of heart and effort hurts me to the core

Like the idea. not sure it will prevent some people from starting a thread anytime they're upset about something, but one can hope

I'm old school and have always said this:

It's a freakin' INTERNET FORUM. If words on a screen bother you, shut off the computer, go cry in your pillow, and get a f***ing grip. In my day we worried about having to deal with a black eye, a bloody nose and/or a split lip, not those awful words on a screen.

How difficult was it having to walk in the snow uphill both ways to school?

I've come to very much dislike Stan Van Gundy. For basketball reasons, not his political views.

I hate what the league and it's players have become - which is why I don't live and die with my team anymore

The Pistons in particular were THE embodiment of effort, hustle, determination, grit, guts etc

The league changed the rules of the sport to ensure teams like that don't prosper!

The players responded by caring less about the competition and more about themselves, each other and "glory", disrespecting the spirit of the game (which is why old players trash the "new" league)

The league brought it on themselves so I don't blame Gores for wanting a treadmill playoff team - this is a business and businesses don't win championships!

IF I was an owner I'd hire Sam Hinkie and tell the league to STFU! You don't like how he rebuilds? Change your broke ass system!

Very few teams are competing for the title...those that aren't have still gotta put butts in seats: hope springs eternal!

If you can't win big without the really big guns then you MUST tank & if the league can't understand that then WTF?

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Another "vent"

A lot of fans don't seem to understand that some players take time to develop and need to find their spot in the league before they can actually contribute

Middleton is the prime example, Afflalo another: When they were here they were stuck in a bench role with limited opportunities to show & prove themselves

That happens to a load of players - essentially nailed to the bench and a lot of those guys end up flaming out of the league or taking years & multiple teams before they find their spot

Once they do some people say "Wow! Look at him! Can't believe we gave him away"

As if he'd develop into the same dude if he stayed and was nailed to the pine!

It's like all those clowns talking about Leonard and why was he traded on Draft Day and look what he's become & the Spurs fleeced someone again

bull!

Leonard became what he's become because he's in San Antonio! If he was drafted by Brooklyn, Sacramento or Orlando he'd be a significantly different player and highly unlikely to be what he is now.

Leonard was my first SF choice to replace Tayshaun Prince when he was drafted.

Isaiah Thomas was my pg pick for the Pistons the year he came out last in the draft.

Spencer Dinwiddie was always going to be good. So was Middleton. Problem is, some gMs aren't patient and they invest square pegs into round holes instead of waiting for the round peg to become fully groomed and grow into their rightful space.

You sir need to be employed by an NBA team with a track record like that!
