Right now Denver is trying to build a contender. The focus should be on making them better in the long term, not worrying about jockeying for the 8th seed.

This trade grants them both a starting PF/C pairing OR two guys who can play center by themselves. That's great flexibility that simply was impossible with nurkic.

Hernangomez gives them a guy who can be played at the 3 OR as a stretch 4. So the frontcourt is well set up for the future though they may want to add a more natural 3 to the roster if Gallinari is not retained.

Harris and Murray give them an awfully cheap backcourt.

If they could just swing a deal for Jimmy Butler. Say for two #1's and Chandler they'd be set

The 8th seed is within reach so might as well go for it. The playoffs experience whether against GSW or SAS will also be beneficial for guys like Jokic, Mudiay and Murray.

Cost them what though? They may have to package one of the 1st round picks to move one of their contracts this summer, but if they move just 1 of them they are fine. I mean that contract that Crabbe is on was actually offered by the Nets and matched by Portland if I remember correctly so at least 1 other GM thought he was worth it.

Very true - also true that they would have had cap issues even without the trade. But hey, I was trying to find a "bright side".

Nurkic average a double-double in Portland - too bad he's injured, but he even finished the game - that's a man!

I didn't understand this trade for you guys then, and it certainly looks even worse now that Portland took over the 8th seed. Plus you gave up a first? Ugh.

Well that's adrenaline, players often play through it , broken hands, legs etc. If anything that can conform nuggets fan , its a thought that Nurkic always get hurt, not that I wish anyone injury , it was just stupid idea to make a trade with the division and conference rival.

Thanks for the comment - we've already discussed that until we are tired of it.
Must be nice to wear the label of 76er fan and still be able to criticize other teams - but I don't get that either.

MEH - they have a 2 game lead plus the tie-breaker, so 3 full games and Nurkic will be back in time for the playoffs - probably

Don't be relieved for injuries. It doesn't matter who they play for.

Never WISH injuries on him, I still like Nurk as a player. Can't say I (or many other DEN fans) appreciated his comment about "have a nice summer", seems karma had it's way.

As for Plumlee, Malone called him out for not playing hard, wonder if the FO overrated him a bit ??
