Looking like a standard 2 year deal with team option next year for us.

He is also heavily involved in learning the ropes of the coaching world.

I don't want these inexperienced, no-specialty type assistant coaches. We have Luke Walton, we need an assistant that actually could set up our defense (like Ron Adams from Golden State). We need a shooting coach. We don't need someone like Metta, like seriously what is he gonna do to help our team other than being a role model. We need veteran coaches on our team that can actually make a difference.

Very happy for Nwaba. Good for him. Hopefully he keeps chuggin' away...and turns into a nice bench guy for us. How cool would that be for both sides? Love it.

Luke thinks MWP is good for the kids. This is the reason why he is still a member of the team. Luke has said this multiple times. Now that we need another 10-day roster spot, he could make the official move to assistant. This is what we are talking about, opening up space for the 10-day trial.

It's not easy for coaches to get through to immature kids, MWP seems to be able to do that by relating his own immature experiences and how he's grown from them. not sure if he's better than an experienced assistant, this is just supposedly what he's there for.

I just want the Lakers to have an elite defensive assistant coach. Right now we have nobody that can teach them from the coaching staff.

well its more like, you might as well use that extra spot at the end of the bench for someone that practices hard and can coach.

Congratulations to David Nwaba.

Really like the idea of having him come off the bench next season.
If he can become a reliable 3pt shooter he can be a really nice piece for us moving forward.

If he can do this, he should start.

Don't know if I would go that far. I could see him filling in at times.
Probably hard to sustain the type of energy he plays with playing starter minutes.

He played 28 min per game in both college and the D-league, I think he would be okay on that front...
