Might not agree with the rest of the post - but you are right. If there is a best thing about Trump getting elected it is this... We may finally have a counterweight to the elite in this country.

Yeah, this is BS reasoning at its finest. Lets get rid of all the elites at the hospitals too. Let me pick my own drugs, thank you! While were at it, lets get rid of the elite engineers building our airplanes. Opera can probably do that better as well.

This idea that lack of knowledge has been a valued trait is F'ing crazy - there is no positive that I can come up with. Opera is a great entertainer. I really dont think she has a lot to add on the devising the best strategy to deal with violent extremism, and then to build a coalition to address it.

Instead of advocating for rich celebrities without background or skill to come in an save Washington, why don't we address the underlying systemic problems? I think we might find the outcomes are better.

or we could just elect random celebrities. Kanye West 2020!

Dear god man.. that is a hell of a strawman... I didn't say that Oprah would be a great president and to fire all the doctors. But have fun with all that...

So if someone says "Gee, America puts a lot of money into their education system, yet leaves its citizens under-prepared for the future jobs of the world as well as tangible life skills"....
Would you you translate that to say "Shut down all schools and colleges..."?

Major terror attack in London, past hour has been 10 minutes coverage on CNN....50 minutes Trump.

I don't watch the 24 hour US "news" networks. Made a point of timing it for my own purposes while coding. Sadly it was expected.

Luckily intel communities exist online:

- Happened exactly one year after Brussels attack
- Picture of the attacker is dark olive skin, long beard/shaved head. Arabic, but likely Pakistani to most eyes.
- British reports say name is Abu Izzadeen, radical British cleric who had pledged his loyalty to ISIS.
- Suspect was on a no travel list, but was caught trying to reach Syria last year in Romania and deported back to Britain.

All there is thus far.

Yegads, I look away for four hours and this thread is like five pages longer.

So basically, as long as Trump does not literally shoot a baby in the head, he can get away with all sorts of crazy behavior as long as Republicans get the supreme court judges they want.

And isn't it WONDERFUL Trump has "broken the mold" of the Presidency?

Let me just make a few rather obvious points here: If the Republicans think stacking the deck with supreme court justices that FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION will get them what they want, they will be BITTERLY BITTERLY disappointed. What Conservatives need are ACTIVIST judges who will CHANGE several decades worth of precedent to give the Republicans what they want. Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot asking for Constitutionalist judges who will rule in favor of the status quo and the will of Congress every time. They're not going to overturn Roe v. Wade. They're not going to rule against Obamacare.

I guess it doesn't surprise me that people who think lying and hypocrisy is ok are ecstatic with Trump "breaking the mold." What I've observed so far, and stop me if I'm wrong, is Trump supporters and EVERYBODY WHO VOTED FOR HIM are not only willing to hold their noses and vote for someone as yucky as Trump, but actively LOVE the fact that he is a big fat liar. As long as his lies are about Obama, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting caught lying. It is BRAVE to double down on a lie when you get caught.

So apparently I'm living in a country that is half full of lying sociopaths. I thought this was a Christian country but apparently the Soviets succeeded into turning us all into a country at least half full of people Jesus would despise.

Not that Jesus would actually DESPISE us. Look at us and shake his head sadly, I would imagine. Still. We are not following Jesus' teachings at all.

It's sad but predictable that the eventual decline of the United States is brought about by hatred. Hatred of liberals has becomes so inflamed and widespread it's affected our ability to be civilized, to BE a society, to accept rules of civility and courtesy. Now we're just a bunch of monkeys flinging poo at each other. It's disappointing.
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.

House intelligence chairman confirms Trump was monitored throughout Obama admin, briefed him in detail today.

The circus continues.

---
“I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the president-elect and his team were, I guess, at least monitored,” Nunes told reporters. “It looks to me like it was all legally collected, but it was essentially a lot of information on the president-elect and his transition team and what they were doing.”

Nunes said he is heading to the White House later Wednesday to brief Trump on what he has learned, which he said came from “sources who thought that we should know it.” He said he was trying to get more information by Friday from the FBI, CIA and NSA.

So in other words, Obama STILL didn't wiretap him.

Thanks for the info Induveca.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I would think most people would not know who to trust now. Fascinating.

Until further info is provided the answer as to who to trust is easy...and it's not Trump and Nunes. Still no evidence that the FBI, CIA and NSA were lying when they said that Trump nor the Trump Tower were wiretapped or surveilled by Obama for political reasons.

What Nunes did today is just... wow. Totally boggles the mind.
So he sees a bunch of unmasked names in some intelligence reports, freaks out, and decides he needs to go tell Paul Ryan and Donald Trump before briefing his ranking member Adam Schiff. Legally collected intelligence which he said was under FISA warrants? Why did he have 2 press conferences about this? What is he doing?

If Trump and his transition team were caught up in incidental collection... WHO were they talking to that were under FISA warrants? If the people they were talking to have nothing to do with the Russia investigation, like Nunes said, then they were most likely diplomats from other places or other foreign officials. That's fine obviously... but their names are obviously unmasked because they would be relevant in the Russia investigation, no? Why wouldn't Nunes wait until he was able to talk to Comey/Rogers about the unmasking instead of going in front of reporters to take questions? Did he tell Trump about this surveillance to give him cover on the wiretap lie or to let people who are still in the White House know that they are targets in the Russia investigation? Referring to the former, Nunes still reiterated that the wiretap claim is false... but then said that this does confirm some surveillance. This still doesn't vindicate the president though because we all know he got the original story from Levin/Breitbart which stated Obama ordered wiretaps of Trump Tower.

This whole thing makes very little sense. Nunes does not seem like the brightest of bulbs since it feels like this stunt could get him in trouble. Also feels totally unnecessary unless it is a more underhanded move by him considering he was on the damn transition team.

Trump lawyers go after 17-year-old coder for site where kittens swat and scratch him
A 17-year-old coding bootcamp student named Lucy tried to boost her resume with a three-hour project she called TrumpScratch.com, where users click on Donald Trump’s face to swat him with tiny kitten paws.

Everyone knows cats usually win the internet, whether or not they’re attached to powerful political figures. But this one had humble beginnings. The website launched in February, and within its first few weeks only had about 1,200 visitors.

Still, it hit Team Trump’s radar and was no laughing matter for corporate attorneys, who sent a cease-and-desist order to the teen emphasizing the international renown of the Trump brand, according to the New York Observer, which reported it saw the March 1 letter during a follow-up with Lucy, whose last name was not given.

Found here

Trump's "break-the-mold" presidency offers yet another novelty, silencing satirical political speech that makes use of his name and image because that same name and image is tied to a private brand and thus the user infringed on the Trump trademark. Hopefully this gets more play further down the line, because that's potentially a very chilling precedent.

Ex-CIA Chief of Staff: Other House Intel Committee Members Likely ‘Horrified’ Over Nunes’ Actions

A former CIA chief of staff lit into House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes over his actions following the press conference on his briefing of President Donald Trump over the finding of “incidentally collected” communications of Trump transition members.

MSNBC security analyst Jeremy Bash noted that he served as counsel to the House Intelligence Committee in the past while pointing out that he “never heard of a chairman of an oversight committee going to brief the President of the United States about concerns he had about things he read in an intelligence report.”

“The job of the committee is to do oversight of the executive branch,” Bash exclaimed. “Not to bring them into their investigation or to tip them off to things they may be looking at.”

He continued, “I’ve gotta believe that other members of the committee are horrified at what they just witnessed. This is a chairman that’s supposed to be doing impartial, bipartisan investigations of the president’s inner circle and instead he basically goers and tells the president and his team everything he knows.”

Apparently, Congressman Nunez didn't even share this with his fellow Republicans on the Intelligence Committee.

Went right to the WH. :nonono:
