The Draft Thread 2017 version
March madness is in full swing and players are just now starting to declare for the draft. So I figured it's time for us to start discussing some prospects!
We own the 29th and 59th picks in this years draft. Which by the way is a loaded draft and chances are we'll be getting a solid prospect at 29.
Some guys I'd love to get:
PG - Jawun Evans - He's average at best height wise (6'1) for a PG, not super quick or explosive, he's not the greatest finisher at the rim but he does a lot of the little things that successful PG's do at the NBA level. His handle is outstanding, he's a great play maker, understands the game at a high level, and has that rare ability to change speeds at will to throw defenders off. Might not be a star but definitely could be a great backup/borderline starter.
DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jawun-Evans-76420/
SF/PF - Semi Ojeleye - Big fan of this kid. 6-7 235 pound combo forward that can knock down 3's. His body is NBA ready, he plays with a ton of energy and seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. The knocks against him are his age (22), lack of outstanding athletic ability and a lot of people seemed to concerned about his ability to play the 3 at the NBA level (which he will have to do at times).
DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Semi-Ojeleye-7164/
PF - Alec Peters - Not the most athletic player, doesn't have great size for a big, is a senior and played at Valpo (smaller conference) but he is a tremendously skilled offensive player (with range), competent defender and he plays with a edge. He'll basically be strictly a PF at the NBA (could play spot minutes at C depending on the matchup) but has all the skills required to be a solid role player.
DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Alec-Peters-77931/
SG - Josh Hart - Another senior that might be getting overlooked especially after Villanova's disappointing performance in the Tournament. Doesn't have great measurables (6'6 6'9 wingspan) and isn't an outstanding athlete but he is extremely skilled with the ball. One of those guys that just finds ways to score, he performs well in the pick role, in iso's and as a spot up shooter. I also really like him on the defensive end, he's got a high BBIQ, is a terrific rebounder and is just a great all around defender. One of those kids that really just gets the game and I really do believe he's going to be a steal, we should strongly consider him at 29.
DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Josh-Hart-7149/
SG/SF - Wesley Iwundu - Another intriguing senior that's been a bit of a late bloomer. Solid all around player with a good handle, well above average quickness and explosiveness and a much improved jumper. Iwundu basically did it all for K-State this year and could be a great role player at the next level. He'd definitely be a reach at 29 and probably won't be there at 59 but he's definitely a guy to keep your eye on he could be a quick riser.
DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Wesley-Iwundu-72634/
Those are just a few guys I like! Feel free to discuss other prospects that you like and just this years draft class in general! It's shaping up to be one of the better ones we've seen in a while.

Ike Anigbogu is in. He's definitely a kid we should be targeting with our first rounder. He could rise up draft boards pretty quickly though, his stats aren't that impressive but once you see him play you'll be impressed.

Re: The Draft Thread 2017 version
Literally so many choices for the Spurs. Honestly, I feel confident they will be able to select someone talented at 29 for sure and possibly at 59. I like Peter Jok from Iowa in the 2nd round as well. See with this team, it all depends on if Dedmon and Lee come back. If they do, then you're only adding Milutinov to Bertans and that's your big rotation (Pau, LMA, Dedmon, Lee, Bertans and Milutinov).
29 - Jawun Evans
59 - Peter Jok
G - Parker/Murray/Evans
G - Green/Simmons (re-signed)/Forbes
F - Kawhi/Anderson/Hanga or FA (possible)
F - LMA/Bertans/Lee (re-signed)
C - Pau/Dedmon (re-signed)/Milutinov
Manu, Mills, gone.
Two-way contracts: Jok and a second player.
Wouldn't surprise me to see the Spurs buy a second 2nd round pick either. Some teams like Philly have too many picks.
P.s. I also like Caleb Swanigan, OG Anunoby (if he's there), Derrick White (out of Colorado) and VJ Beachem. The last two may be UDFA.

I'm a big fan of Jok as well. He's going to shoot up draft boards. It'll be interesting to see where he gets picked.

Re: The Draft Thread 2017 version
A few more names to watch:
Jonah Bolden - 6-10 Aussie PF. Left UCLA last summer to play overseas and the move has really worked out well for him, he's a fairly athletic big that can shoot it a bit and grab some boards. Reminds me a bit of Richad Holmes on the 76ers.
P.J. Dozier - 6-6 SG from South Carolina. He's got long arms and great athletic tools. Can shoot it a bit, has good handles and plays pretty solid man to man defense. Still has a ways to go when it comes to learning the finer points of the game but has the tools to be a solid two way player.
Hamidou Diallo - 6-5 SG from Kentucky. Crazy athlete with an equally crazy wingspan. He's raw (didn't even play a game last due to academic issues) but he could be a really special player down the road. Also plays with a ton of energy.

I really like a lot of the guys available at the back end of this draft. I think we're going to end up with a solid player at 29.

Re: The Draft Thread 2017 version
The more and more I dig into this draft the more I find guys that I really like. There's a ton of talent available in this draft, here's a couple guys that might be good options at 59:
Davon Reed - 6-5 SG/SF Miami - Biggest thing that stands out about him is his 7 foot wingspan. He primarily played as a combo forward at Miami but he's a fluild athlete that shouldn't have any issues playing on the perimeter. On the offensive end he's got a good looking jumper (career 40% shooter from 3) and he's shown that can he get to hoop off the dribble as well. On the defensive end he makes mistakes but he try's hard and has the tools (length, mobility, etc) to be at the least a solid defender. Overall he's got solid role player potential.
Arnoldas Kulboka - 6-9 SF Lithuania - Not sure if he's going to stay in the draft and if he does he might go early but either way he's a interesting kid. he's big, long, skilled and athletic. His biggest issue is that he's so damn skinny.

Re: The Draft Thread 2017 version
At the 29 we will draft whomever the FO considers BPA. Who that is ??? I could see us go for Jonathan Jeanne at 29.
Another interesting couple of names for 59
Tacko Fall (although I suspect he will withdraw)
Alpha Kaba
Damyean Dotson - looked very good playing PG at the PIT. Versatile (PG/SG/SF), good shooting this season, big for a PG, athlete. Would prefer to have him to Bryn Forbes... Before you say character issues, remember that we had Roger Mason, who had a very similar incident in his past, IIRC.

Really like Kaba as well. Not really sure why he hasn't risen more actually, kids like him are rare.
As for Dotson there's not much to not like about him. My only knock on him is that I'm not sure what position he'll play full time. Yes he can play all the perimeter positions but I just don't see him playing anyone one of them well full time (maybe SG).
29 is definitely going to be interesting. I'm with you on BPA and the having no clue on who that's gonna be.
There's a ton of talent available at the end of this draft, I could definitely see someone projected to go in the 40's jump into the 20's and vice versa.
A few other names to watch out for around 29 are; Bam Adebayo and Isaiah Hartenstein. Both are big guys that looked like late lottery picks earlier in the season but both seemed to be dropping a bit.

Lottery happened last night. Boston got number one, LA got number two and the 76ers got number three.
Boston is in such an amazing position going forward. That team is loaded and is just a trade or two away from being serious contenders.

Disagree about Boston. The way the league has been going, you need a MVP candidate level guy (which they don't have) and at least another 2 Allstar level guys to be a serious contender... I don't see how they get an MVP candidate level guy, especially with the PG spot occupied by Thomas - and most of the MVP contenders are PGs - Curry, WB, CP3, Harden ...

I agree with that as they're currently structured they're not currently serious contenders. But Fultz can be that type of player and now they're loaded with tradable assets. If they can pull of a Jimmy Butler trade and/or get Gordon Hayward they'll have 2 to 3 all level players along with a ton of depth.

Re: The Draft Thread 2017 version
Another guy to consider:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Derrick-White-95407/
Derrick White has been shooting up draft boards as of late. He impressed at PIT and in the combine. He's a little older (23) and he's a late bloomer who up until last year had been playing at a D2 school. His measurements are solid and he tested quite well athletically. He's got the skill set to play both guard positions effectively and he does a little bit of everything and really doesn't have too many flaws.
Team might be scared away by his age but I really think he's still got room to grow. Might not be a star level player but definitely looks like a solid rotation player and possibly even a starter.

The more I see of Derrick White the more I like him. Just has that natural feel for the game on the offensive end. Reminds me a bit of Manu in that sense.

I'd do it. This draft is loaded, we could snag a very talented young big at 12.
