Awful stuff from most of the key players for 3.5 quarters on both ends. I was actually happy to see Weber come in the game for Kemba in that 3rd Q. Was nice to see Kemba finally make some plays at the end, even if he wasn't getting the calls.

Like I said earlier, Frank is either ice cold or red hot. At least his red hot moments are typically later in the game, rather than earlier (need to fact that feel-o-meter stat).

Did Marco even score in the 2nd half?

Just when I started to feel good about the direction of this team, buying into the idea that all our woes are related that bad stretch in the winter, they go and play like garbage.

And with that said, watch us go nuts in the late 18 minutes to win. Magic don't want to win this game, right?

11 games left.
3 games back, yet we've lost about every tiebreaker, so really 4 games back. Only way we win Miami tiebreaker is if we beat them at end of season. Milwaukee we could beat, but this team hasn't been able to win a playoff style game yet this season.

Let's not get our hopes up.

Confident Frank is great Frank. He is so much more dynamic than Marvin.

Nice to see us win a game that we are supposed to win.

The sneaky good thing about Frank at C is he and Lamb function well together. Marco and Lamb too.

Frank owned Gordon at PF. I wonder if Cliff will bring him off the bench next season.

I actually like Marvin starting and using Frank's playmaking off the bench.

Kinda related, Clifford subbing Briante early was a nice wrinkle. He'd struggle in a traditional PG role but next to Nic and/or Frank he's an effective off ball cutter in space and can focus on defense.

Yup, and that's all we really need. I think we have to stagger our lineups so we always have one of Kemba or Nic on the floor because (tonight being the exception to the rule) our bench can't carry its own weight without a couple starters in. Briante isn't a primary ball handler, Sessions, Lamb, Roberts, etc aren't primary ball handlers. The offense typically goes to shiznit when both of our starting ball handlers leave. But Briante does what we've been missing- terrific off-ball movement, relentless hustle, and pretty good defense. Would love some extra shooting, but Briante's skillset is as close to a Lin/Livingston that you're going to find on the open market like we did.

We have a real decision to make about our second unit and closing group. We want a secondary ballhandler to close out games, but Briante is not that guy. Is Marco? I don't think so. Another PG? Not if we want to stick with Briante. I think we were hoping Sessions would play the role Lin did but that didn't work out.

Do we hope MKG develops into a better playmaker? Try to find another wing? Try to find a big PG and make him our primary backup PG? Abandon the secondary ballhandler and lean on Frank's playmaking?

I'm thinking the last one.
