Cliff Alexander
He's playing his best basketball since Kansas. Yes, this is the same guy Billy King passed on to sign Andrea Bargnani.
He's averaging 22.7 Pts / 11.7 Rebs / 63.0 TS% / +6.6 Net Rtg in the last 10 games.

Re: Cliff Alexander
seems moot since we don't have him locked into a contract.

Well with the season winding down, Skil, and Harris coming back, while KJ and Goodwin are showing they deserve minutes...maybe Foye is the odd man out. Foye is only on a one year deal and was here for leadership. But since the season is almost over, it would make sense to waive him and add CA. Give him a look this year, a look in summer league and training camp. Basically, its an extended tryout for next year while making sure he can't be poached in summer league.

I think we should keep Foye. The bloke has played hard and i'm positive that he has been a big influence on the culture of this team. It would seem he didnt ask to be cut to play for a contender and wanted to stick it out to the end with out kids. What sort of message does it send to cut him 10 games from the end? Seems to be the opposite to the type of culture we are building.

Harris is a good piece who the FO likes. Kilpatrick and Foye should both be goners

Nicholson has a long, somewhat expensive contract and very little value. Can't see him going anywhere.

I'm not convinced that KJ or Goodwin are better than Skill. He had an extended rough spell but was really good to start the year and looked awesome again once Lin returned and Bogs was moved. Also, we are gonna need a Foye type as our 14/15th man. Goodwin and KJ aren't gonna be happy playing sporadically and don't provide a veteran presence like Foye. I don't think we can take both into next season.

The Nets could stretch his contract out and waive him. It's evident he's not going to make it here long term despite the Kenny optimism.

Re: Cliff Alexander
I'd give him a shot if possible still this season. Then draft a similar big and see who wins the job for next year.
I wouldn't move on Skil or Harris yet either. Not fair since they're injured at the moment. Hope they come back and show something in final weeks.
Also Hamilton and Nicholson I'm fine parting ways with.

Harris is a good 3pt shooter but that is it. He is an awful defender, ball handler, passer and cant drive to the rim. Kilpatrick is already 27 and has hit his ceiling, I rather give his spot to younger player, atleast 1 of the Hamilton and Nicholson should go or ideally both of them. This should be our 15 guys next year IMO barring any trades:
1) Lopez 2) Lin 3) Booker 4) LeVert 5) Whitehead 6) RHJ 7) Acy 8) McDaniels 9) Dinwiddie 10) Goodwin 11) FA 12) FA 13) 1st rd pick 14) 1st rd pick 15) Underafted or d-league

Unless i'm mistaken that would leave us paying him $3m a year for the next 7 years. Not sure Marks is up for that kind of wasted salary cap moving forward. I'd keep him as the new Scola for the next 2 years (great team guy who becomes the 3rd string big) and look to include him in a trade in season 19/20 as an expiring contract.

3M a year is chump change. Hell, 6M a year is pretty much nothing too. The money isn't an issue, its the roster spot. I'm positive the nets would rather have an open spot and owe a player 18/6 than waste a roster spot for 18/3.

I guess my thing is that you can't play 15 guys. If Nicholson is happy to play 15 minutes in 40 games a year then i'm happy to pay him out over his contract. He wouldn't really be taking up a spot as you have to have 3 guys who wear suits more than they wear jerseys. You have to pay someone to do that, may as well be the guy on the books so you aren't paying 2 guys for the one garbage time spot.

I would take Alexander over Nicholson and Hamilton any time of the week. Try Acy/Alexander off the bench as our bigs.

The Nets have to be concerned that he's going to get pillaged by another team.
