Harjo wrote:Hartenstein is my pick. He might need some time to adapt to the NBA but he definitely got a huge upside. He seems very mature on both ends of the floor for anthe 18 year-old, and he's exactly what we need at the 4: he's very tall, he's very quick (I don't like Swanigan because he looks too slow to me), he's got the three going but also some very nice moves going to the basket, he's a team player and he's active on D.

I really hope he's available when we Draft.

Yeah, I kind of like his skillset the best of all players that might be available at the late teens/early twenties. Perfect candidate to spend the year in Sioux Falls developing and getting Heat-type coaching. He can get acclimated to the American game and society as well.

I watched a few tournament games looking for sleepers but it's just not like last year. Last year's second round was insane. Anyway here is what I've seen:

Miles Bridges had two really good games in the tournament. I moved him up my board. He'll probably go around 11 or 12, maybe even higher, so not for us. But u never know. I suspect his combine might end up hurting him if it turns out he is only 6-5 without shoes. I'd still take him as a 6-5 stretch 4.

If the draft was today I'd be surprised if pat didnt draft TylerJohnson Leaf, seeing as he's seen him play live like 5 times already. (you know he's not still going to see lonzo. It's probably like when you start hanging with a group of girls and the hottest one gets taken and you're like, " hey, her friend isn't too bad.")

Swanigan looks the same as he did when I saw him earlier this year. So he's consistent double double machine. I think he would be best paired with James Johnson in the frontcourt. Him and Whiteside might get in each other's way, but him and JJ could be a scary pick and pop combo.

I like those Hartenstein highlights Bishop posted. I daydream about what he could become.

So Robert Williams is staying in school, that won't help us who are hoping for someone to slip.

Pat saw Justin Patton in the tourney and I think Patton had a bad game iirc.

I'm with Bish on OG as a PF. Offensively it will take some time and at best maybe he can hide in the corner and hit the occasional 3 like Deng or Aminu. But defensively that man will get lots of PT from Spo.

Conspiracy theory: Maybe Harry giles is playing bad on purpose and heat have duke connections to make him slide.

As far as my proposal of considering trade options. Someone posted some Oubre defensive highlights against the Celtics. I think he could become at least an average 3 pt shooter one day. He still has potential.

I'm liking Labissiere. He is making quite a leap.

It might be possible to get him. They apparently didn't think too highly of him, otherwise they would've drafted him before Papajohn's and Malachi. They've got a bit of a logjam up front and maybe they'll part with him if they're still delusional about papajohns.

So, I've changed my game 4 bet to Arizona. I just learned that Sumner is out for the rest of the season. That's a game changer.

Game 7 and 8:

Game 7: UNC vs Butler (3/24, 7:10)

unc:

***Justin Jackson (F, jr, 6-8, 210) (18.1, 4.7, 2.8) (1133 minutes, leads in points, 3 pa, 3 pm=38.7%, fga, fgm, 2nd in ast, 4th in rebounds with 170)
** Tony Bradley (F, fr, 6-10, 240) (7.5, 5.3, 0.6) (strong defensive presence in front court, blks & rbds)

Seventh Wood (G, fr, 6-2, 180) doesn’t play

Isaac Wulff (G, fr, 6-3, 175) didn’t play much
Armani Dodson (G, fr, 6-5, 190) didn’t play much

Kentucky has an excellent defense.

Isaiah Briscoe (G, so, 6-3, 210) (12.5/5.4/4.1) 2nd in ast-per-game, 1st in steals-per-game
DeAaron Fox (G, fr, 6-3, 187) (16.1, 4.0, 4.6) 1.4 steal per game. no 3 point range, but exc guard. leads in ast-per-game.

Wenyen Gabriel (F, fr, 6-9, 213) (4.8/5.1/0.7) poor range shooter
Dominique Hawkins (G, sr, 6-0, 191) (4.4/1.6/1.8) poor range shooter

Sacha Killeya-Jones (F, fr, 6-10, 230) only 96 minutes played
Hamidou Diallo (G, fr, 6-5, 190) didn’t play
Tai Wynyard (F, fr, 6-10, 254) didn’t play much
Brad Calipari (G, fr, 6-0, 178) didn’t play much

----

I'm not confident at all about game 8, but I usually prefer a good defense to a good offense. UCLA has struggled before with good defenses, though they had no trouble really with Cincinnati, a tough team. I have this feeling that Monk and Fox will beast against the Bruins. For game 7, I like UNC's individual talent more than Butler, but Butler has been solid so far, so I'll pick them.

----

I should point out that I typically get 1 out of the top 4, but here goes:

1. Florida
2. South Carolina
3. Gonzaga
4. Arizona
5. Kansas
6. Oregon
7. Butler
8. Kentucky

Florida vs South Carolina (South Carolina)
Gonzaga vs Arizona (Arizona)
Kansas vs Oregon (Kansas)
Butler vs Kentucky (Kentucky)

South Carolina vs Arizona (Arizona)
Kansas vs Kentucky (Kansas)

Kansas vs Arizona (Kansas)

Looking forward to the Kansas vs Purdue game tonight. Will be the first time watching Swani for a full game.

Wish that Arizona game wasn't on TBS. Basic cable does not include. Maybe HWR will show himself and present a link?

So The Vertical and DX have just released their updated mocks and they both have us taking John Collins. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-vertical-mock-draft-version-2-0-135637001.html
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

You know, with all the love Skal Labissiere gets here on this board (deservedly so, he's playing very well), I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Collins. He's severely underrated. A tall, quick, lanky big who moves like a SF...can shoot the midrange jumper and hook shot...good footwork..dunks everything thrown his way...rebounds at an almost elite level (14.5 per 40). Coaches love him. Still young at 19. There's a lot to like.

Now of course, there are negatives. Could use some more bulk, consistency on defense is an issue, not a 3-point shooter at this point (but has a good looking jumper and could possibly improve in that area). Improving his passing is another issue. What's funny is that a lot of these things are the same knocks Skal has when coming out.

Not saying Collins is the next Skal (Labissiere has a better low post game and, while not a sniper, has shown he can make a 3. Although Collins is a much better rebounder), but he is very intriguing as a PF option next to Whiteside.

I like Collins a lot actually. Not a bad player at all. I think he is ranked too high though. By the end of the tournament, we should know more. There are workouts too.

Right now I'd take Leaf around the same place. That UCLA game is big for Leaf. If he shows up, it will help his case.

Oh, and I know I say this every year, but it would be nice to have a second round pick too.

John Collins seems like a good prospect but I just cant' see us drafting a power player that cant hits 3's.

Justise and Whiteside desperately need a shooter between them, We're playing a guy named Babbit that is really just a glorified 3 point shooting contest participator. That's how badly we need that skillset in the starting 5,
and that need will only grow With Justise back.

Biggest need by far is a PF/SF that can really shoot and not suck elsewhere.

PG, SG, C are set IMO.

I think Swanigan fits the bill. Draft Swanigan and resign Babbit(bird rights) and James Johnson to fair market deal at about 10 per and use the bulk of the cap space some place else.

Kind of depressed that Arizona lost last night. Hopefully it dropped the draft stock of both Lauri and Trier.

Big game tonight though-Kentucky vs UCLA!

Will be watching the UNC game as well to see if JJ can have an up game after being a pretty poor shooter recently.
