Ricky Rubio is Wolves second best player without any doubt.

Let me ask you a question....if you had the choice of prime Jason Kidd as Wolves pg or Lillard or Irving, who would you choose?

You are basically comparing their stats and saying they have similar impacts, which of course you would not be correct.

I would pick prime kidd..but honestly you can win a title with all three. You can't compare Rubio to a prime kidd.

Hmmm....their stats are remarkably similar at this stage in their careers. I put Kidd ahead of Rubio, and he might always be ahead of him. But they play a very similar game.
But I'd take Kidd over either Irving or Lillard as well. The latter are shot first pgs. Nothing wrong with that....depends on what your team needs. When you have a Lebron James on your team, you don't have to be the floor general.
What the Wolves don't need is a pg who is going to take shots away from their young guns. Neither Irving or Lillard are in Rubio's class at setting up teammates and neither is as good a def. player.
With the way he's playing now, Rubio is the ideal pg for the Wolves.

Irving leading the Wolves out of the west??? That's too funny. Cavs are 4-15 when James sits out over the last 3 season. Everyone knows Irving's losing records pre Lebron. Irving is not a leader. Lillard is very similar to Irving.

Rubio has a higher RPM than both Kyrie and Dame.
http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/sort/RPM/position/1

He also had a higher RPM than Kyrie and Dame last year
http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/year/2016/sort/RPM/position/1

He was hurt in 2014-2015, so in 2013-4, he had a higher RPM than both of them too
http://www.espn.com/nba/statistics/rpm/_/year/2014/sort/RPM/position/1

Defense is half of basketball. Rubio is one of, if not the best defensive PG in the game(only PG top 3 every year in DRPM) , while Kyrie and Dame are basically matadors.

It also depends on who you have on your team, offensively the Cavs are fine with Kyrie because Lebron averages almost 9 assists a game and plays point forward. So you have at least one genius playmaker out there getting guys the ball. If Kyrie was on Wolves he'd just be taking shots away from KAT and Wiggins. Kat and Wigz aren't playmakers, they need someone to set them up and give them the ball.

It could be argued that Kyrie is a better fit for the Cavs, and Rubio a better fit for the Wolves.

We shall see if Rubio getting the better of the NBA's top PG's continues tonight. Rubio vs IT. As great a defender as Rubio is, the tiny quick guys have always given him the most trouble.

It's not far fetched by any means..the wolves have the talent to win now and just have unperformed badly early in the season adding a player of kyrie caliber would make that offense that much more potent..his threat to hit the shot opens up the floor tremendously for guys like towns and their slashing wings to wreak havoc on the league. Kyrie has experience playing in pressure cooker situations that would be extremely valuable for this young wolves team. And despite his flaws kyrie has more impact on the game than what Rubio has ever shown. Rubio plays the game right away and is pesky defender but once and if the wolves finally get in the the playoffs the intensity rises and teams will game plan by letting Rubio try to beat them..exposing just how much liability he is on offense. Kyrie was a 19yr old kid trying to learn the most difficult position in basketball with only 11 games of college experience on top of playing with a talent depleted roster..it's an unrealistic to make that comparison. Who knows maybe Rubio finally turned the corner after 8-9yrs in the league and can be what the wolves fans have envisioned in the 1st place..but it's unlikely at this point.

You're talking about Irving taking current wolves to the finals. I'm sorry but that's grand delusion, crazy and naive stuff. Irving can't even win regular season games with Love and crew when Lebron is out.

Also Rubio is currently in his 6th season.

People don't want to see pure point guards in todays era. Which is sad, this kids court vision is second to none, and is a pretty good defender. Obviously his shooting is an issue, but still he's a good player. Just in the wrong era.

You are basically comparing their stats and saying they have similar impacts, which of course you would not be correct.
Never said they had the same impact...I said their stats at about the same time in their careers were close. Rubio gets nailed for poor fg pct, but Kidd shot under 40% 11 out of 19 years in the league.
Like I said I view Kidd as the better player. But Rubio is improving and might make a similar impact. His best years appear to be ahead of him...especially with this Wolves team. His shot looks better than Kidd's did at a similar stage, but Kidd's all-around play was tremendous.
But so what....the pertinent question is: who would be the best pg for the present Wolves? And my answer is Rubio. He'll be what the team needs more than Irving or Lillard. The game ain't all about who is the best one on one player or scorer. It's about who can make a certain team better. In my estimation, for the Wolves, that's Rubio.

Lavine ball handling hurt Rubio's game because Rubio is a creator... You cant create by being a spotter or watching.

the wolves should try extra hard to fix his shot because if he somehow, someway becomes a reliable shooter they could start really doing damage.

I can see what the Rubio advocates are saying. he's still pretty young and with his defense and play-making, it could be amazing.

but yeah he has to shoot decently or it won't work for him in serious playoff series.

BS, many players have been positive contributors on winning teams without being able shoot. Rubio has been a proven significant net plus for quite a few years now, put him on the Spurs and people wouldve marvel about his playmaking and defense.

LaVIne wasn't even ball handling that much with Rubio, he was doing that more with the back up unit. Wiggins was the one running so many PnRs.

Rubio's a completely different player when he's scoring like that, it's nice to see.

Forget 2nd best, I'm not sure that Rubio in peak form isn't the best player on the team. It's hard to say for sure depending on how you quantify "best", but he very well could be their highest impact player. It's a similar thing with the Bucks, Giannis is probably the best player (like KAT) but Middleton is the glue that holds everything together and might actually be the highest impact player (like Rubio).
