70 points at 20 years old.

I wonder what that even feels like.

Must be nice to hoist 40 shots in a game and have your team mates getting excited about it

No offense but I feel like you always have a tendency to throw shade at Booker. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we made mistake in taking Stanley over him (hindsight is 20/20 of course), idk.

70 points on 40 shots is absurd, and if the rest of his team played better perhaps his performance wouldn't have been in vain.

Kobe's teammates never minded it when he did for it like 16-17 years.

Ummm wasn't throwing shade at all! Simply mentioned how happy his team mates were for him to take so many shots and score so many points!

They looked genuinely happy for him! Which says a lot about their chemistry despite another wasted season.

Compare their reaction/effort in the 4th to our guys!

On the SJ v Booker thing: I still believe we made the right choice. We've just done a really poor job of developing SJ and giving him minutes.

Booker had had the green light all season and most of his rookie season too so obviously he's much further along as far as developing

That said I despise fake tough guy players and Booker is one if them or has had enough incidents where he can't claim to be completely innocent while SJ isn't like that - people know he's not fake tough

I agree, with Pharaoh. This night never would have been possible for Booker if he was on our team. I really like Booker on draft night, I loved the fact that we is a local kid, wanted to play for the Pistons, and has one of the sweetest looking shots in the NBA. But in Detroit, he would have gotten the Henry Ellenson treatment. I'm rooting for Booker though, unlike Winslow.

See I didn't know Booker was a local kid, Grand Rapids no less one of my unusually favorite spots. Had I known that, I would've gotten on the Booker hype train leading up to the draft.

But like Montana said, Booker would not be getting any real minutes here with KCP getting nearly 90% nowadays at the SG spot since we don't have a reliable backup there and SVG's insistence on grinding him down.

My mistake. I interpreted it as you knocking him for taking so many shots.

I think Booker is just flat out on another level in terms of talent, but I definitely agree that we haven't done a good job of developing Stanley. He hasn't really done himself any favors with the LeBron trash talk, team suspension, exhibition games in the summer and all of that jazz but I imagine he'd be a lot further along if he had been drafted to a team where he'd have a larger leash.

Hopefully SVG realizes that before we end up with yet another young player succeeding in greener pastures.

Pretty sure they did mind and that's why other stars weren't flocking there via free agency.

I'm not enamored with Booker like many of you here. The guy has a USG of 27.0 with a .530 TS% and lacks effort defensively. To me that means if he's ever going to be on a winning team his numbers will likely take a major hit. I understand he's only 20 years old and I'm not trying to be a hater here I just think KCP is the better player and it's not really that close.

Didn't affect them all that much with guys like Gasol and Artest still resigning and signing there to play with him. Nobody seemed to mind when they was winning 5 titles with him either.

If Shaq didn't mind they would have won more titles together, instead, the Lakers front office was forced to move one of them. How do you not remember this?

The difference with Kobe then and Booker now is Kobe rode his team mates 24/7 because they weren't driven like him and even guys who did heaps of extras copped it from him.

The league is different now - the entire Suns bench was jumping up and down and excited for Booker to get as many points as possible.

Is it a meaningless accomplishment? Yeah, but their season was over before it began so why not enjoy nights like that from a guy you're obviously gonna build around

Let's say SJ was in Phoenix...his numbers would be so much better and he would be further along in his development - not because Phoenix develops better guys but simply because he'd have a consistent role with consistent minutes

Where Booker is concerned, while I agree with the point about his having had a better opportunity in Phx, it seems very reasonable to me that he would have been the better choice for the Pistons. How many of our "clang fests" do you have to watch before it comes clear that someone with a really good outside shot is desperately needed?

I agree. I mean, getting 70 points in one game is a fine accomplishment, but Jennings had 50+ points in his rookie year and we saw the peak of his career in Detroit.
