Heat center Hassan Whiteside misses practice because of ankle but intends to play against Celtics

MIAMI – Dealing with two injuries, Heat center Hassan Whiteside did not practice Saturday, instead riding the exercise bike as his teammates prepared for Sunday’s game at Boston.

Whiteside played during Thursday’s home loss to Toronto just 48 hours after receiving 13 stitches in his right hand to close a cut between his middle fingers.

But it was the sprained left ankle he suffered late in that game that kept him off the court Saturday. Coach Erik Spoelstra said they have managed the swelling and that Whiteside intends to play Sunday.

The Heat (35-37) face the Celtics (47-26) holding a 1.5 game lead over the Bulls and Pistons for the eighth seed in the East. The Heat have won 24 of 31.

“He’s feeling better,” Spoelstra said. “He did a pretty tough bike workout on the side. He’s moving around with the intent to warm up and play but we’ll have to see how he feels tomorrow.”

Whiteside, who is averaging 16.8 points and a league-leading 14.2 rebounds, missed one game after spraining his right ankle in late January against Brooklyn.

Whiteside said the ankle didn’t swell too much overnight but was “just really painful” the last two days.

New Samuarai Jack is awesome 'mBook's, the G rating is overwhelming

It has me tripping. Samurai Jack was awesome back in 2001, and it found a way to get better 16 years later. Meanwhile, series like Dragonball, Pokemon, YuGiOh, (lol) and Digimon (lmao) do nothing for me.

Samurai Jack may be one of those timeless shows that we can use to chit on our kids' tastes in entertainment.
