He will still have 2 years remaining on his contract. Which should give us enough time to build a good team around him. Plus with our cap space we might actually be able to convince competent vets to come sign here. I think a lineup of Payton, ross (or free agent signing), butler, Gordon and vuc. I like that team alot better than are current one.

If there's still a playoff mandate on the table and our GM doesn't feel like he's spotted a future superstar with whatever pick position we end up in (or even if he feels like the development time will take too long), I could see us considering it.

As you said, might help us lure another big FA.

I absolutely love this trade and it might be enough for Chicago if the team goes full rebuild (i.e. Wade departs).

Keeping all the other draft picks, as the fill needed 3rd-string depth by NBAdraf.net (23-Justin Patton Creighton-C; 32-PJ Dozier South Carolina-PG; 34-Cam Oliver Nevada-PF). Resign Meeks and let Green walk
This makes:

Payton/Augustin/Dozier
Ross/Meeks
Butler/Hezonja
Gordon/FA pickup/Oliver
Vučević/Biyambo/Zimmerman/Patton

I love this team as a starting point. Maybe Zimmerman or Patton's rights need to be traded for a combo wing, but wow - a balanced roster with talent and depth.

Edit: maybe to make the trade more patentable for Chicago, Zimmerman and the #23 are also added. Butler for Fournier a top--5, Zimmerman and another first is an unfair trade for the Bulls - but if it works, it is a great move for GM New-Guy.

Payton/Augustin/Dozier
Ross/Meeks/FA-scrub
Butler/Hezonja
Gordon/key FA pickup/Oliver
Vučević/Biyambo/FA-scrub

I think this is gonna be the price for PG or Butler

Evan + our 2 picks

PG will be the cheapest obviously cause he has only 1 yr remaining on contract

I can't see us drafting a rookie this year. Ownership doesn't want to wait 5 more years

I can see it now. Magic trade youth and future for Paul George, it doesn't work out and Magic trade him for a lesser package by all-star break . . .

Very likely

Ibaka was a gamble that needed to be taken

Same with PG

Go magic

If u think a rookie in this class is gonna save us, be prepared to be as disappointed as when we drafted mario

I wish we could keep the trade stuff in the trade threads or the official speculation threads. The majority of the people in this thread want to tank so that we can draft a young guy and develop him not to get a good draft pick only to trade it away for another veteran again so that we can continue to abandon the youth movement and stay on the current path of mediocrity.

This is just our type of luck. I would rather go with something substantial to build around over the next 3-4 years unless Butler or PG would commit to a longer term.

Finally starting to dig into the mock drafts. As in years past I will be here until the draft providing you with garbage insights into the draft. I've got my tankapalooza target set on Lauri Markkanen. This guy's going to be the a stud. :D

Even if we don't land a top two pick I would be very happy with Monk or DSJ

We're gonna need it because we play the Nets two more times and the Pistons once more.

Philly has two more games against the nets as we do. We play the nets on an away back to back after playing at the Celtics. They have played much better lately so that is potentially a loss. Fivethirtyeight has them with a 68% chance to win it last time I checked.

It is absolutely crazy to me how bad the Pistons are playing now, this is a team that is in the playoff mix.

Gosh I would love to have WCS on my team.

I hate watching all these tanking teams because they all have better prospects than us. Even the Knicks at least have Porzingis.
