http://maryland.247sports.com/Bolt/Micah-Thomas-Leaving-Maryland-52045101

Maryland freshman Micah Thomas is leaving the program, a source confirmed to InsideMDSports.

Thomas, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Memphis, will leave before ever seeing the court after redshirting this season. He chose Maryland over Louisville and others last spring as a late-blooming recruiting from powerhouse Huntington Prep (W.Va.), but Maryland later added another highly regarded recruit, Justin Jackson, in the frontcourt.

It's unclear why Thomas left, but playing time might have been hard to come by; Jackson thrived as a freshman, leading the team in rebounding and finishing second in scoring, and Baltimore wing guard Darryl Morsell would've provided more competition. With Thomas' transfer and Melo Trimble's departure, Terps coach Mark Turgeon suddenly has two scholarships to work with this spring. Maryland could potentially add a guard and a big man.

MELO TRIMBLE ....

Yes, he's limited.
Yes, I think he should PLAN on NOT MAKING IT. (Future coach? Future movie star? Future salesman par excellence? Future counselor? DUDE WILL SUCCEED outside of basketball)

I think he's a small shooting guard who doesn't finish well around the basket unless he gets a favorable whistle. He's not explosively quick. He's not a great leaper. He's got a pretty good handle, even for NBA players. He DOES HAVE Steve Nash-like ability to probe and attack the basket.

However, he's not a true point.

THAT SAID HERE IS MY CCJ PREDICTION:

Melo Trimble will play in the NBA for at least three years. He will make it within this draft or 2018.

He's better than Trey Burke because he's stronger. He's not a better shooter, however.

I think Melo is a WINNER. I think he's SMART ENOUGH to defend PG reasonably well.

I HOPE the Wizards invite him as a Free Agent. I suspect SEVERAL TEAMS will work him out.

I KINDA EXPECT HE WILL BE DRAFTED in the 45-60 range. SCREW DRAFT EXPRESS' Mock draft.

Melo will earn MANY NBA PAYCHECKS.

He needs to watch Lou Williams and Kyle Lowry. Tell Scouts and GMs and Coaching that he's a MIX OF THE TWO.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I hope he adds a skilled Euro, like Alex Len; only, with more heart.

I hope he adds a glue guy who can ball out when Jackson disappears.

(I think he already has a PG coming in who's prolly better than Cowan).

Not sure if Turge is going to add another point guard to compete with Cowan. Right now, he has just two signed (a wing and a big). I'm sure he'll add another big and a guard, probably combo guard. I think Cowan takes a big step next season as the "man" because if he doesn't, MD is in trouble. They need more talent and more "dawgs" up front.

As a Md fan for around 40 years, I hope Trimble makes it but I don't see it right away. I don't think he'll be drafted when they find out he's around 6-1 and doesn't have the so-called athletic intangibles (can barely dunk). Can he guard anybody in the NBA? Doubtful. Yes, Burke is still in the league (maybe not next season), but he was a great college player; Melo just very good with many deficiencies.
I think he'll need to start out in the D-League and prove he can beat those dudes first.

Sometimes it's not always about making it to the NBA. When I think of Melo's pro prospects, I'm reminded of fellow Terp alum Drew Nicholas whose had a long and distinguished career overseas. It's still real good money with the perks of being a celebrity. Just not in the NBA. Plus Melo really doesn't have the physical traits of an NBA player. A very marginal athlete for his size. Doesn't strike me as having NBA quality PG skill. Sorta like Trey Burke but Melo is smaller and not as good a shooter.

You are more likely correct on this. I just go by intuition and gut most of the time, 80s.

So, you're being very diplomatic. You think DUDE SUCKS. :D :D :D

THANKS. I needed this.

Seriously, there are very competitive leagues abroad which IMHO HAVE TEAMS THAT ARE AS GOOD AS NBA TEAMS.

Melo's definitely going to make Nicholas, Juan Dixon money abroad.

Honestly, I think he's like this dude: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmer_Fredette

Devastating but can't put this one on Brenda. From Idaho and moving closer to home because mother is very sick. Jen Staiti and Kiah Gillespie also leaving. But this one was devastating. Elena Christinaki coming in from Florida is big-time scorer but Destiny can't be replaced.

I said this BEFORE THE MELTDOWN!

Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:I didn't say horrible coach. I think she coaches very poorly in the biggest games. She plays a short bench and insists on having Conroy on the floor. It is extremely demotivating to play some women 38 minutes and others none. It would be MUCH SMARTER to extend the defenses and to substitute liberally.

Brenda is getting what she deserves. She is a chump and I am GLAD TO SEE THE GIRLS WHO SHE TORMENTED AND BETRAYED leave the program.

Wine and dine 5 star athletes and then get them there and be TOO STUPID to play them????

Frese FROZE.

Soon, she's gonna leave the program. Good riddance. She is like Wizards Flip Saunders. Blame the players and point to their flaws but NEVER owing up to her SHIDDY coaching.

It's not BS.

Destiny has some personal things going on right now.

As for the other two transfers, I think they were overrated to begin with.

It happens.

If Brenda Frese were a black man, like Benji Taylor, SHE/HE would have BEEN GETTING CRITICIZED FOR A WHILE NOW!!!

If she were a black man, they'd want to fire her.

I've lived in HI for over 15 years. They had a a POTENTIALLY GREAT COACH. (Who set the table for the current coach the same way the Sixers' former GM has done for the current GM). He got run.

Brenda might be having personal problems. I dunno.

<Edited>

I KNOW that things can undermine one's personal effectiveness. Brenda F has/had a sick child among her twins. She's VERY LIKELY menopausal. I KNOW she's had a lot of girls UNDERACHIEVE and A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT TRANSFER.

<Edited>

BRENDA FRESE IS OVERRATED. Not the damned poor young kids who get sucked into the BS family approach recruiting.

THE TWO TRANSFERS WILL BOTH BE IN THE WNBA SOME DAY AND SO WILL SLOCUM!!!
