Will we get the 6th spot?

Yes. We will go full 7-0. Hot streak before the PO to scare the whole Western Conference.

No. Fizdale is already thinking in the Spurs and he's giving rest to our players.

7 games to go...

Post#1 » by bobobolas10 » Fri Mar 31, 2017 7:41 am

So 7 games to go, and we are 2 games behind OKC

Our Schedule:

VS Dallas
@Lakers
@Spurs
VS OKC
VS NYKnicks
VS Pistons
VS Mavs

OKC Schedule:

VS Spurs
VS Hornets
VS Bucks
@Grizzlies
@Suns
@nuggets
@timberwolves
vs Nuggets

In case of a tie:
Our record against OKC is 1-2, So if we want to clinch the 6th spot, we must win that April 5th @FedExForum.

So in case of a tie, we would have to look at the division standings?(not sure if division or conference) We both belong to different divisions. We are 7-6 and the OKC is 8-5 So at that point, the games against the spurs and Mavs would be VERY important for us but the just have to play de nuggets twice and the Twolves. (I believe they will go 3-0 in those games) in case of a tie, I guess they'd get the 6th.

IF we have to take a look at the Conference standings: Grizzlies are 27-20 and OKC are 26-20. If we win that 5th April, we would clinch the 6th seed if the reacords are tied.

Going 6 wins with 1 loss should be the expectation, but the Grizz have struggled all season against sub 500 teams so I doubt we can flip the switch now,

Unfortunately I can see the Grizzlies going 3-3 in the final stretch of the season.

The losses I'm thinking will occur around the Spurs, OKC(we will be in a fight for sixth if we're lucky), and maybe the last Mavs game(depending on if the fight for sixth is out of the question).

Turns out I was wrong about the Lakers. In a way, I wasn't too surprise about the loss. I guess I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. These two games between the Spurs and the Thunder I definitely have for losses. It's likely the Spurs we will meet in the first round.

With these losses like the one against the lakers, we are digging our own grave. We are signing our 1st round exit just now. Do they understand that failing now means going straight to the spurs?

I watched yesterday´s game Jazz-Spurs and that basketball they are playing at the moment is just too good for us.

We obviously havent switched on the Playoff-mode. My concern is, when the team really focuses and switches on the playoff mentality. How good will we be? We can trust our core (Marc, Zbo, Jaymychal, Conley, VC, Allen, ....) but can we trust those new added players (-Harrison, Ennis, Wright, Selden...) I dont think they are ready for the challenge. The whole thing falls when you have them on court late in the 4th...

Struggling to eek out a win against below .500 teams = UNWATCHABLE

Losing those type of games = TYPICAL GRIZZLIES

The pattern that keeps on giving.

Being that half the roster is half veterans and half rookies and 2nd or 3rd year players, we have a tough road ahead of us. I feel at this point, they are intentionally losing these games just to draw the Spurs. Almost the best matchup, but keep in mind this is Pop and company. We may have beaten them once in the first round, but can the Grizzlies do it again? Based on how their season has gone, I think not.

Who can guard The Claw? Ennis? not a chance. Allen? Too small for him. Double teams? no way, they have a balanced inside and outside game.

The only matchup I really like is Conley-Parker. Parker is still doing right what he has always done but at a slower pace. Im more concerned when Patty Mills jumps in against Harrison.

Marc will be guarded by Deadmon and Pau. So I guess he will be ultramotivated to match up against Pau.

When the playoffs starts, the Spurs will be on. They will key in on the Grizzlies offenses. Given the Grizzlies lack of perimeter shooting, they will take the lanes from them. Doing so will force them to shoot from the outside. Look for the Spurs to put pressure on Zbo as well from the bench unit.

If the Grizzlies want to win the series, let Kawhi shoulder the offensive load and shut down everyone else. Kawhi gets tired and so will the Spurs offense.

Well, Khawi will do as he pleases. I dont think he will save anything for the 2nd round. Being said that, expect secondary players to make career highs as well. Bertrans going for 50 points in a game? First triple-double for Deadmon? Green going 10/10 from 3point line? Gasol +20boards? hahahaha :lol: :lol: :lol:

do we have time to get him tired? best of 7? i dont see any chance against Spurs, they play efficient basket, we are the worst shooting team in the nba, so we HAVE to play really good defense, then we NEED to play the offense so much better than we actually do... and we CANT get tired.
The best Conley appeared without Marc and the best Marc without Mike, so we have 4 games left and still dont know how to get the best of them together.
Anyways, Kawhi out:
Conley - Parker
Allen - Green
Carter - Simmons
Green - Aldridge
Gasol - Gasol
-------------------
Zbo, Daniels, Ennis - Lee, Mills, Ginobili
Basically we are almost like the Spurs, without iq, efficient and Leonard. So.....

Given it's the Grizzlies, anything is possible. I can see Bertans getting 20pts off us. Remember Doug McDermott and Sam Dekker? Did the same thing to the Grizzlies revolving defense.

I don't see it either given how the Grizzlies have been playing this season. Perhaps the worst Grizzball in a long time. That said, it's a long shot regardless. That's why I stated what I posted in bold. To me it's their best option with what they got. They don't have enough offense(thx Chris Wallace!) and the old injury bug is still an enemy against the Grizzlies.

With or without Marc Gasol in the lineup, I can't help to feel it the series plus tonight's game will fall to the Spurs favor.

at least, I hope we make it till game6. The only thing I liked from the game the other night, is that we actually played good defense and made many stops. If it was for the overtime, I believe they stayed under 90 pts. That can help us win.

If the Grizzlies are that confident about taking the fight to the Spurs, they best learn from their mistakes that led to the losses and play to their strengths that had them winning the first two games against the Spurs.

For some reason, I think the coaching staff wont be up to the challenge. Starting with playing minutes, First thing you change when you become GM in nba 2k17 is adjusting minutes. You can have The ones like harrison or selden playing +20 minutes. You cant have Tony Allen the last 4 minutes if the players he is defending is making a lot of damage. You cant overplay Zbo in the 2nd and 3rd and expect him to play well the last minutes of the 4th. Little stuff like that will impact in the game.

While I will not say there is no chance but I am the most pessimistic regarding the franchise as a whole, because of the misses from this off season. The ONLY reason I am not willing to officially say they have no chance is because the CHICAGO CUBS just won the World Series and the Lady Bulldogs beat a 111 games in a row Connecticut women's team that beat them by 40 plus points the previous year.

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!

To the Grizzlies coaching staff, it will be their first rodeo against a methodical Spurs team. It's likely they will take it to the chin in their upcoming playoff series. That said, I don't anticipate them just folding up like lawn chairs and give the series away in a sweep. One thing about both teams, they are similar to each other. Will go back and forth, but in the end, the Spurs are more cerebral than the Grizzlies.

Return to Memphis Grizzlies
