Why would we give him that contract, that is just outbidding ourselves. No one is going to go on a bidding war against us. I bet he'd take a veterans minimum, but we can give him a 1 year deal for as much as we want. There is no point of signing him to a multi year contract. He barely even plays, not a good defensive player, and can't stretch the floor. We already have enough "energy guys". We need shooters.

You dont want to insult the guy and I think he can seek more than the minimum at his age and production from different teams. I think 3 years for 10 million would suit him (for stability) and the Lakers (bench, energy) fine especially if the 3rd year is a team contract. He might want the 3rd year to be a player option though.

3 years for 10 years with 2 years guaranteed would be a very Lakers friendly contract for a guy that brings energy, rebounding and a good bench guy. What did we pay for friggin Moz and Deng? If you compare that to even Brewer and Black, I think its worth it. Ask him to work on improving his defense, mid-range shot and FTs for a bigger payday down the road.

I hope our starting 5:

Ball
Russell
Ingram
Nance(?)
Zu

I wouldn't mind Clarkson returning but if somehow we're able to pull off Randle + Clarkson + 27th for George then by all means hell yes. I assume Young will be back. Whatever, as long as he can have another season like he did this year.

Though, IF we keep our pick, then I would just prefer to keep it and go with the BPA, and take our chances the next summer and go for the 28-year-old George when he becomes a FA.

I'm not a fan of Butler at all. Maybe it's the haircut.

If we lose our pick.....PANIC! lol jk..maybe..

Jeanie's recent comments have scared most us, and we continue to fear that there will be a great overpay.

BUT, at times I am at some kind of conflict and totally understand those looking to take advantage at the possibility of keeping our pick in the lottery and trading it for some kind of all-star, especially as PHI would just get our unprotected in '18. I've just lurked around some other forums of other teams and they would prefer to get a top-3 pick + Russell/Ingram. To me, that's overpay.

With Pelinka the lawyer around, I doubt we overpay.

I think the Lakers should not only think about who to keep, but also what position to have those players play.
The way the League is trending, teams that can come up with at least two formulas (small-ball, 1-in / 4-out, traditional etc.), usually have a lot of success.

1. Current roster evaluation:
- B. Ingram : to me, he is a play-maker, not yet a PG, but I would start him there, have him defend that position as well, because he could have the same type of advantage Magic Johnson had, and now Giannis has.
- D. Russell : a decent player, still a lot of potential despite areas of need (call them weaknesses, if you want); to me, he'd be great off the bench, without worrying about play-making.
- J. Clarkson : still needs to find an identity, and to become at least decent on D
- N. Young : he would be great coming off the bench, maybe he can develop a Tony Allen mentality to go with his shot-making and shot-taking (which has greatly improved)
- D. Nwaba : great surprise, coming out of nowhere; if he keeps developing, I see him starting alongside Ingram, handling the stronger guards

- L. Deng : needs to be traded by January next year; why not right away? Because he's a true professional, and his presence in the locker room, if given a proper role when on the court (play less ;) ), can be golden. He should be traded for spare parts to a team looking to contend
- C. Brewer : will stay on the roster, also a positive influence and decent if plays only 10 mpg
- J. Randle : needs to come off the bench, because he's not long enough on D, sometimes loses focus, and has such a peculiar skill-set that if you play him against average or bad players, he will eat them alive. I envision him in a L. Odom role, playing 25 - 30 minutes, getting 14, 10 and 5 easily
- L. Nance : can really develop into starting PF, because of agility and ability on Defense, and also being able to finish lobs; needs to focus on 2 things this summer : getting in better shape, because he can be quicker to the ball than everyone else, like Rodman used to, and get 12 rebounds per game. If he gets to that level and becomes less hesitant when shooting, he'd be great
- T. Robinson : keep him because he will play hard for 12-15 mpg and really make a difference

- I. Zubac : he's the starting C in my opinion, although he has a long way to go, but he does have good footwork for someone picked 31 and that big. A similar player in size, build and skill is M. Gasol; nobody envisioned him to lose that weight and become such a refined player, but he's top notch to me. In Year 2, Zubac should be good for 20-26 minutes, starting games and making sure nobody gets too comfortable getting to the rim
- T. Mozgov : needs to be traded to a team where the skills he DOES have are put to better use. At least, he can be traded for smaller contracts (like an injured player + an expiring contract that doesn't want to stick to the current team).
- T. Black : keep him; you need a MAN in the locker room

That being said, Deng and Mozgov need to be traded, and I'd keep everyone else.
Draft a Small Forward, if possible, but also find a decent one with potential on the FA market. Maybe J. Simmons (Otto Porter will get a lot more money than he should).
A more athletic Center, that compliments Zubac's skill-set, but one that doesn't have to play a lot (10-15 minutes ?)

Minutes distribution:
- Ingram: 28 - 32
- Russell: 24 - 26
- Clarkson: 20 - 24
- Nwaba: 16 - 20
- Young: 14 - 18

- Drafted SF: 18 - 24
- Deng: 0 - 8
- Free Agent SF: 20 - 26
- Brewer: 8 - 12
- Randle: 25 - 30
- Nance: 22 - 26

- Zubac: 20 - 24
- Black: 12 - 16
- Mozgov: 0 - 8
- FA Center: 8 - 14

Ingram should see minutes at SF as well, Young at SG and SF in small-ball units, Randle as a back-up C, Nance as well.

Defense should be greatly improved with a starting unit of Ingram - Nwaba - new SF - Nance - Zubac, only if this unit manages to improve enough on Offense to keep the opponents at bay.
A bench mob of Russell - Clarkson - drafted SF - Randle - Black should be the best in the league.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Randle and 1st for Jimmy. I've seen it all.

Ingram and Clarkson for PG? LOLLOLOL. Imagine thinking Larry would accept that after turning down to Nets picks

Why does everyone think PG will be on the Lakers next season? We now have a GM who is a genius and knows management. He's not going to trade our assets when we can make a pitch for PG the following summer with our assets still in tact.

Frankly, theres no free agents to chase this summer that would even think about signing with us.

Like I've said for the past three summers, DON'T OFFER ANY LONG TERM DEALS. Thanks to Mitch and Jim our cap is screwed for the next several summers. If we didn't have those contracts on our books, we could've cashed out on PG and Cousins next summer without losing a single kid.

Next years line up

Ball / David
Russell / Clarkson
Ingram / Young / Deng
Randle / Nance / Robinson
Zubac / Black / Mozgov

You really don't think Magic is gonna sit back and watch stars get traded to other teams do you?

Define Star? The bulls might not even make the playoffs and Paul George is now posting a 19 PER. PG's best days are behind him with that freak leg injury. I'm definitely not trading Ingram for that sort of player. With Butler and George you're a first round exit team in the west with no cap space whatsoever to get better. You need multiple A players to win a title these days. Let's not settle for overpaying for B+ ones.
