no to overpaying porter and kcp, kcp is basically bogdanovic with better defense.

Trading chips: Booker and Lopez.
Booker + one of our picks to move up in the teens in case there's a player Mark likes.
Lopez for a lottery pick + young player, no bad contracts though(No to Turner/Crabbe)
Out: Hamilton, Foye and Nicholson.
On the fence: SK, and Booker. Both low BBIQ players. Not sure they fit in. Another one is Archie Goodwin who has had flashes when given a chance but I'd rather bring in someone more experienced who can handle the ball and make good decisions. Would not mind it if we keep Archie though.
Roster going into next season:
Lin/Din/
IW/Harris/
Levert/KJ
RHJ/ACY
Lopez
Needs:
- A PF/C type to backup Brook and challenge RHJ/ACY for starting 4 position.
- Another combo guard similar to Lin who can score but also be a play-maker.
- A 3-and-D wing wouldn't hurt.
Otto Porter and Teodosic would be ideal targets. In the draft I'd go BPA but keep a keen eye on bigs. We need some young athletic bigs badly.
i dont see any lotto team that could use lopez. and if they good it seems like an overpay.
Booker to move up 6 or 7 spots... i dont know. maybe?

Booker, Hamilton, Foye, Nicholson will all be the odd men out. Booker, RHJ, Kilpatrick would likely only be moved for draft compensation. Only way I see either one going is unless a team is willing to deal a higher pick if we packaged either one in a deal with a 1st.
Foye is gone. free agent. same likely for kilpatrick. those will be the 2 obvious cuts. if they can move hamilton or booker i think they would consider it. Nicholson could be cut i guess if we really need the roster spot.
Kilpatrick is a 15ppg off the bench scorer on a minimum contract. He's not going anywhere unless it involves receiving a good player or mid-late lotto talent. Likely not to happen.
No reason to drop him. He's a local NYer and a good guy capable of being a sixth man candidate on a better team and he's on an extremely cheap and friendly contract right now.
Foye, Hamilton, Nicholson, Harris, + CBA's extra 2 roster spots is what we'll be working with in terms of roster space. 6 available slots. Everyone else will be looking to build on their process and weaknesses.
Lin/???/Dinwiddie
???/Skil/Whitehead
LeVert/McDaniels
RHJ/???/Booker
Lopez/???/Acy

Hamilton and nicholoson are under contrace. Harris is as cheap as skil and shoots the 3 better and fits what the team wants to do better.
Cant see any scenario where skil is back

Kilpatrick has a great impact on the rookies and he's a high character guy like Brook and he's on a cheap contract. Why wouldn't he be back? Kenny and Marks rave about him.
Both Hamilton/Nicholson are under cap friendly deals. They will be shopped and Hamilton will have bidders.
I don't have any issue keeping Harris but I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted someone with a little more potential individually.

Harris is too cheap and shot it too well from three on a team without many shooters. it basically comes down to stretching nicholson or moving on from skil. i think they do him a solid, and let him get more money from someone else in free agency. i like the dude but only so many roster spots

Then the team does a consolidation trade. Packaging SKil and JHam, as an example, for a big of similar quality to SKil. When players are as dirt cheap as they are on this squad, there will be teams looking to beef up their bench strength by getting multiple pieces for 1.
We need roster spots another team might need more filler pieces instead of relying on the crapshoot that is the draft/DLeague FA. Players like SKil, JHam, KJ, Dim, IW, Harris, have all shown they can ball in the NBA at a certain level and some of them even ahve growth potential.
No reasaon to cut SKil loose when he can be used as a trade chip to buff up another position of need.

picking up skisl option to trade him is a crappy move by management, which stiffs him out of money and doesnt let him go where he choses. if they pick it up they should keep him.
this franchise has made it a point to treat players well and not like assets. trading skil seems like an enormous longshot. hamilton i can see go.

Re: This offseason
Wish we could have made that deal with the pelicans for Hield + future pick.
Hield 15/4/2 on 50/45/93 since the trade. Guys is a scorer who also doesnt miss from deep whether its off the dribble or the catch and he can defend. and on arookie scale deal.

Re: This offseason
Crazy idea:
Trade the Boston 1st to Denver for Mudiay. He's clearly in the doghouse out there, and they traded away a late 1st for plumlee.

This is nonsense imho. Marks and the Nets rescued Skil from the scrapheap and gave him an opportunity. He went from making sub-$30k in the D-League to over a million dollars a year. He is still young and has totally proven he's an actual NBA player, he will eventually get paid barring injury, to the tune of an 8 figure deal lasting 3 or 4 years.
There's nothing unprofessional, crappy, Bush League, etc., about the Nets trading one of their obvious assets to improve the team.
Regardless, I'd almost guarantee there will be a consolidation trade on draft night, even if it's not something big and exciting. Maybe even something like Booker and Hamilton for Faried, so then they just keep Skil.

Turner has looked really good. i dont see that as a fit. Sacramento to me is not a consideration... they really dont need a 29 year old max center who has shown he isnt going to elevate a team when he is surrounded by scrubs.... i think the youth movment and throwing center minutes at WCS is more likely.
Charlotte is a fit and i guess they are lotto... so yeah that could be a possibility.

I agree.. skill woud get something to the tune of 3/18 from someone.... the nets picking up his option and trading him basically cheats him out of 5-6 milion dollars and sends him to a team he doesnt get to choose.
So he loses money and cant pick his spot.... thats a bad look. especially since he probably doesnt command a big return. i think the marks move is to waive the option and let him get his money someplace he wants to be. if they want to keep him, then year the option works.... but picking up the option to trade him is kind of slimey... something morey would do.
