See we will never agree on his defensive ability. I believe he was a fine interior defender without Lin, but yes he has played with more energy since he came back. His pick and roll defense will never be good, so that kind of remains unchanged. Which I am okay with because he makes up for it in other areas.

Energy is a huge key for Lopez, and I think when Lin was out, he was posting up for a lot of his offense. He had to fight hard to score the ball almost every play. WIth Lin back, Lopez is getting much easier looks. It's incredible how excited I got for the simplest posts passes that Lin gives to Lopez. It's because those weren't there before.

When Lopez gets easier looks, it conserves some more energy for defense. And he is clearly getting re-energized from playing for a much better and exciting team than the pre-allstar break Nets. Now you can say "well he should have generated that same energy when Lin was injured." Well I would like that to, but losing takes its toll.

Lopez is wanting the ball and lin is getting him the ball. That is why Lopez is playing well. He is currently the #1 option. When a big gets rewarded he will play with more energy.

Brooks numbers month to month from november trough march have been identical this year, pre and post all-star as well. his usage and FGA are not up with Lin back nor is his FG% or TS%

his 2 games in april have been off the charts... is it small sample, his typical april push, or has he finally turned the corner?

i tend to think it is one of first two, considering we have seen this kind fo thing every year for him. but who knows there are alot of factors.

birthday push and some opponent teams are simply distraction.

Or is it possible Kenny could be that good? We have to also acknowledge we did hire Kenny for player development.

He's the best scoring center in the league. The guy has so many moves like a small forward not just the prototypical big man.

waits for someone to poo poo on this post.

Lopez has decent up and down footspeed when he knows people are looking for him. It seems like at least twice a game Lin lobs forward to Lopez who magically beats everyone else down the court despite oftentimes being in the paint on defense.

Btw, it should be mentioned that Kenny, in his first season since leaving Atlanta, has split the season series with his old mentor despite being on the much less talented and younger team. I know our wins came with their guys missing healthy starters but take those guys away and you can still make the case that they're more talented and experienced.

Atlanta has dog players. Wouldn't shock me if we beat them with their whole team intact. Milsap is the only dude I really respect on that team.

Teams with that kind of talent don't go on slides like that unless there's an issue with the players. They remind me of our treadmill teams. Lots of salary being paid for the bare minimum effort wise.

If Lopez was anywhere close to consistent, we could've been battling for a .500 record lol...

What stood out was his defensive activity. He was moving his feet yesterday instead of standing still as movement took place with the ball handler and the screener. Huge difference, not sure if this was just him with some extra pep in his step or the coaching staff finally told him about himself.

I don't see what you guys are saying. His carrer average is 18.6 ppg this year he's a 20 ppg scorer despite playing less minutes, unless you want him to score 30 every night.

As far as on the defensive end I agree he's flawed.

Missed this one. Marks is probably still going to keep Lopez if he doesn't get the offer he wants. This is the fool me once part of the season, where I start wondering with a couple additions another camp and preseason together and much better all around health, this team could actually makes some noise next year.

who was missing for Atlanta this game? I know last time we played them Bazemore and Milsap missed, so obviously some fans were quick to jump on the excited Nets fans to not be too happy. Or maybe it was just JM saying that, I can't remember.

Sefolosha, maybe another player as well. Milsap played limited minutes.

Very impressive win. Held a playoff team to 82 pts. Seems like the team is finally showing some chemistry. Can't wait to see how they compete next year.
