What a depressing read. Though, it's not like it's anything we didn't already know.

only chance this bum improves is if he gets traded, and even that is no guarantee. I honestly hate him. I never use that word, but he truly makes it easy to hate him. I used to love him before this season, and only started to dislike him this year given his horrible play, but I still gave him benefit of the doubt. Now I truly hate him. I think the rap video did it for me. he's a loser. will always be one.

A little bit extra, but I get his point.

Drummond is a non-skill player.

If you surround him with skill he's an excellent workhorse. That's his role.

If you pull an SVG/JoeD visionary square peg/round hole experiment and pair him with an assortment of combo guards and combo wings and try to make him a main piece, its failure as always.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Drummond got his paycheck and now he can pull an Eddy Curry until his contract is over and retire.

Drummond is an elite garbage-man player who got paid and think he is too good to play that role anymore. So he struggles.

What would Magic Johnson give us for him? Lakers could use him no?
Would prefer to trade him to a West team cause knowing our luck he'll become the next Shaq after leaves.
What would Cuban and the Mavs give us?

I do see him working on his "half court shot" game though. :nonono:

The columnist didn't say anything that we didn't already know. He's a raw unpolished player who is not known for his finesse game. He's at his best when he brings energy and hustle plays to the game. The equally daunting thing is, he's a player who often brings very little effort to the game. I don't expect him to become a dump down sure bucket threat in the post. I don't expect him to develop a consistent three point shot.

I do expect him to bring energy and toughness to the game earning his check like a professional. That sadly is what I saw very little of this season. Most nights he looked two steps too slow and uninterested in to cheer or inspire his team. The mental and emotional deficiencies are more disconcerting than Drummond's Big Unfundamental game.

I would imagine the Lakers wouldn't give their top 3 pick at this point

Dallas? Their Lotto pick and filler

Left field idea: Memphis could want him - Marc Gasol ain't getting any younger and Hollinger is a stats guy...don't advanced stats say Dre is good?

Advanced stats would make Dre look worse on both offensive points generated and defensive ratings. So I imagine Memphis wouldn't bite at all.

But the Lakers are an intriguing option. I'd think they'd include Mozgov somehow to make us suffer. Maybe they draft Fultz and give us D'angelo?

BOS, BRK, CHA, CHI, CLE, GSW, HOU, IND, LAL, MEM, MIL, MIN, NY, PHO, POR, SAC, SAS, TOR, WAS

I think Dre could "develop" better on all those teams

What we'd get back is up for debate though

This definitely feels like what is going on. He avoids contact, never even fights for position for his hook shots. If he's 10 feet out when he gets the ball, well, I guess that where he's going to try it from.

He should be directed into a DeAndre Jordan role. He definitely is not a cornerstone player in the modern NBA.

Opposed to being a bottom 10 team? Wow, what an upgrade!

At least those bottom five teams are getting a shot at a real difference maker in the draft.

If we can trade Dre to LA for Russell I'd be pretty happy. I'd even take Mozgov I think

but last yeat we were in the playoffs because of him. I don't like him. I have been called drummond hater, too. he is one of the worst defensive center but we payed him. and he is only talent we have. we have to rebuilt around him.

LOL with Drummond we are a bottom 11 team. Frankly many would agree we would rather be a bottom 5. The problem with feelings like this is exactly what has led to overspending. This teams problems start with:

1. Inability to develop almost any position
2. Inability to properly scout draft talent
3. Inability to recognize that if you can't do number 1 and 2, swallow your ego and tank because it will be only way to get development-proof players.

I would have to at least consider this. It saves us 28.7M in 2021. We would have an additional asset in Russell guaranteed for awhile. I would likely ask for the Lakers 2017 2nd rounder if they have one. Honestly they would likely do this, as Dre would no doubt do much better for them than us.

I would rather have a 45M liability over 3 years in Mosgov, than a 100M over 4 in Dre. Our payroll is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), and at least mosgof can make free throws at the end of the game. I would offer that this trade allows you to keep KCP or not, and roll with the best draft pick available. Flexibility and some semblance of cap responsibility come from this. But you have to develop the young players. That's what it comes down to.
