Probably to lock them up for the Summer league.

The D-league regular season finished and this gets the players pre-acclimated for the Summer league.

PLUS: they have (non-guaranteed) contract ensuring that they cannot be poached by another team until pre-season.

edit: it seems pretty clear that the Magic intend to revamp the SG core for next year.

I liked Patrino over summer league last summer. Smart player with good fundamentals. No athletic freak but can play.

I would love to throw both of these guys into the fire these last few games to see what they can do with our guys.

MAN! Im a hugh fan of Patricio Garino, as an argentinian i believe he's the best youngster of the national team (actually he is a starter), ive watched tons of games and his bball IQ is great for a young player like him. He can play a 3 and D role not doubt about that, he has a good range, nice court vision, and he seems pretty nba ready overall. As nyce_1 said he is not an athletic freak but he has the fundamentals. Geez man, im very excited for him. Believe me if he sees the floor this season you gonna watch a lot of brights spots and finally you gonna love him (hope for).
And he wont play any SG, he is a straight SF imo. Great news, as i always said in henny i trust :).

He is the definition of an intangible player, he seems so quiet on the floor but he does all the little things in O and D

I think he'll help our bench a lot as a backup SF. Hopefully not too much this year, but like you, I really hope he sticks for a couple yrs or longer.

Really smart player with a good looking jumper. The only knock on him is that he isn't exactly quick.

When the Spurs picked him up I was thinking he was a perfect fit for them, he seems like the typical Spur player. Hopefully the end is near for Rudez, Watson, Green and we can start playing guys who actually have the excuse of being from the Dleague instead of NBA players playing like Dleaguers.

His size implies a bulldozer capacity. Can he post up to benefit from his width and height?

Wasn't he on our summer league team last year? Hennigan making some last minute busy-body moves I guess.

I like this move a lot for us. He looked pretty good with us in Summer League and was very solid with the Spurs. It was odd when they cut him. I'm hoping he can stick with the Magic.

I would think this means Watson , meeks and green shut down add Wilcox to list also..he has been shut down all yr ..no plan to resign any of them and doing them right so they don't get hurt with 5 meaningless games to go ..they need to be healthy to get new contracts from someone?

Mario is better (i'm still a believer) but they'll make for a good combo on the wing with the 2nd unit. 2 smart, unselfish players.
