Thats going to happen just because of age and maturity. Male bodies usually don't completely fill out until 22-23.

Verbal confirmation from Bender that he'll be participating in Summer League this year, if it was ever in doubt. I wonder if Ulis and Chriss will play too? Safe to say that Booker has graduated.

Booker may simply want to play, just to play with Ulis and also with guys he will be playing with in the future to continue to develop more chemistry.

Good to hear Watson finally say something positive about Bender as well.

Didn't he play like one game this past summer? He might do that again.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

All this talk of Booker wanting to play with Ulis all the time is going to Bledsoe fired and SF drafted :)

I wanted Bender to be a starter but Chriss is developing much better than I thought. I think it may be the best idea to make Bender our 6th man, playing various position of the bench depending on matchups. Toni Kukoč, Lamar Odom and Boris Diaw was bench players on championship teams. This may be the best role for Bender also.

I really think the front office wants to see if Bender can develop into a stretch 5. He has a soft touch in the paint, and I think he has the mentality to bang in the post defensively. He can stretch the defense with his ability to hit the corner three, and I think can easily become a pick n pop kind of player such as Channing Frye (except a lot better). I'm coming around to the idea of having Bender start at the 5, keeping Len as a quality backup. In some cases, possibly start Len over Bender, but Bender seeing roughly 16-20 minutes a night at the 5, and 16-20 minutes at the 3/4.

I've been operating under the presumption of Bender at the 5 for a while now, but get this. We know Bender can guard positions 2-5, generally, though he can't cover the quickest wings or the biggest centers. We also know that bigs can't be chasing him around the perimeter a la Reggie Miller, while if you put a smaller guy on him, he actually has an effective little post game.

So if you're thinking playoffs, maybe you use him as a sixth man, and you sub him in whatever way creates the biggest matchup problem, depending on the team you're playing. Sub him in at the wing or in the front court, depending on the opposition. Seems like that kind of weapon could really **** a lot of teams up, if deployed correctly.

Just a thought.

Bender in a sixth man role, replacing any of the front line positions makes a lot of sense.

^ love this line of thinking.

I also like Bender off the bench because his length at either forward spot somewhat offsets William's stumpiness at C.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him improve. He is probably going to take longer to develop than we of the other top picks from his draft but I still like his potential.

Summer league is going to be fun again this summer.

His potential still excites me, and I feel like where ever we land in this draft I'll still be excited to see the growth of Bender, along with Chriss/Ulis/Booker/Jones Jr/Warren.

Yeah, the biggest regret of the season for me is that he did not get more playing time for whatever reason and injury afterwards.
I always felt that some of Queese's minutes should have gone to him, becouse as much I loved him attack the rim, we could have used a bit better D and some more clever passing. Oh well, maybe next year.

The reason is very simple, Bender is a bad basketball player right now. When you watch him and DJJ play or compare their stats it's hard to tell which one of them was the #4 pick and which one was undrafted.
