It's time for fresh blood at ownership. And when he passes, I hope his family sells the team. Yes we've had much success under him as owner, 2 NBA Finals appearances, but we've also let 3 superstars walk away. At some point you have to learn from that and not let the next superstar leave like the previous 3.
He's also the one who put his longtime buddy, Martins in a position he should not have been in, PBO, once that position was taken away from his son in law. He's tried to speed up this 5 yr rebuild on several occasions, allowing Martins to put his nose where it doesn't belong and has not allowed his current GM to do his job.

So yep, I want a new owner.

Shaq walked which I blame them for, TMac was traded, and Dwight wanted a big market and demanded a trade. Its not as simple as "he let 3 superstars walk away" imo. When he passes I hope his family keeps the team because you run the risk of a new owner moving the team to another state. I agree that Martins at this point is way too involved in the decision making process when it comes to players. They need to either fire him or hire a POBO and remove Martins from the decision making process. Honestly, not knowing the amount of influence Martins has had on the GM's decisions I'd be ok letting him stick around another season although I dont know how likely that is.

The point is, I and the fan base, just once want to see a player of Shaq, TMac and Dwight caliber stay and retire with the Magic. At some point you still need to learn to keep the superstar.
I don't agree with having to deal with new owners moving the team, the team is not moving.

John Morgan should buy the team and rebrand us as the Justice or something. I have no doubt Morgan would sign good basketball players over wholesome, respectable young atheletes. Until the family friendly bullcrap vibe we have going on changes, we will be a Mickey Mouse team that never wins a chip.

A few years back I used to make fun of Golden State for losing to the Spurs for like 16 games in a row. Now its us, and damm we are a joke. And almost all those games have been blowouts. Maybe 1 or 2 close games. Cle doesnt even play hard, they just try for one quarter and the game is over, they rest. Joke of a franchise.

I want that to but completely overhauling the entire franchise from ownership down isnt likely. My stance has always been it wont matter if Hennigan is fired, although I understand why he would be, if Martins is still there pulling the strings then nothing will change. I think he's the bigger problem. Ownership wants to win a title before Devos passes and imo will do whatever it takes. Martins is in THEIR ear coming from a business/PR perspective, not a basketball perspective. Which is why I wouldn't mind if Hennigan is retained but only if Martins is out of the equation. imo a Pres of Basketball Ops needs to be hired and it needs to be a guy that tells Martins to eff off if he tries to meddle.

Agree, Henny stay, Martins GTFO or go back to PR stuff, bring in Grant Hill for PBO.

I don't belive that Martins will be fired. He started to work for Magic 27 years ago, it's clear that he has strong relationship with Devos family.

Regardless, he should be moved out of the PBO role.
