Why wouldn't he go top 7?

A big that can stretch the floor AND provide rim protection? Top 7 with ease!

**** these little dudes man, bigs win big! Lebron is a big **** guy, Timmy was too, KG, Dirk...you build franchises around those guys and grab your guard later

He's not a top pick because he isn't athletic enough to thrive in the NBA. Frank Kaminsky is probably close to his ceiling.

Seems to be a massive disconnect on this unicorn kid.

If he's not athletic enough than he's not a Unicorn

as I say every year, I'm not a college ball fan. This time of year I do some research on the usual sites to see which prospects I like, but in the end I trust the FO to select the right guy.
Having said that, i don't like the look of Collins from what I've seen. He looks like he could be a solid player, but I'd rather svg reach for a higher ceiling guy.

he's fairly athletic, he's just really skinny so he needs to add a bunch of weight/strength. he can jump pretty high but if there's any kind of contact he can barely get off the ground. he also really struggled with fouls simply because he was so physically over matched a lot of the time. he averaged 2.7 fouls in 17 minutes a game, which is 6.2 fouls per 40 minutes.

personally i think he should go back to gonzaga for another year, otherwise he's likely looking at a redshirt year in the nba.

Didn't see much of Collins other than a few games at the end of the tourney, so I gotta ask: how would you compare him to Henry?
On paper, both big white guys, capable of scoring inside and outside, probably need another year to develop physically (college or d-league).

Could they play together at the 4 and 5? What's Zach better at?

If we draft another big man he better look good in a tux. Because he'll be joining King Henry and his court at the Grand Rapids

If Malik Monk is still available...? Seems most unlikely. But if

I don't think he'll drop to us. Also, we wouldn't take him if we somehow got a top 3 pick.

i haven't watched a lot of collins so don't take this as gospel but to me his game is more like a center. ellenson is definitely a PF and much more comfortable on the perimeter offensively. it goes without saying but collins has a much higher ceiling defensively.

to be honest collins reminds me a little of cody zeller. he's got more skill than cody and is better at blocking shots but it's to be seen if he can get to be as strong as zeller (not that zeller is especially strong).

there's a zach collins thread in the NBA draft forum, i recommend reading there for some more insight.

Luckily we don't have 2nd rounders. I'm tired to watch SVG picking old rookies who cannot play.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
